A: Look for correlations, and setup bots to trade around them. Net effect is arbing the outliers, which could be feeding back, to artificially maintain the correlations. How much arb can be left to squeeze outa the lemon now if they are teaching it in business schools. This stuff is going to be a dead duck soon. Interesting take - sounds plausible. EDIT: So would you say the Flash Crash was an unintended consequence of this behavior as the SPARC processors turned themselves off? Maybe so, as far as prosecutions go... But either way, if this mess isn't straightened out ASAP, the mortgage securitization market could grind to a halt.
