richmtn
Not long ago it NG storage was reported by the industry and was a reliable indicator of gas available in storage. Now its a gov't report and you know the rest. Last weeks injection report was footnoted to contain 11 bcf of reclassified "base" gas normally not counted as it is required to maintain pressure. This week with a 127 bcf large injection an additional and unspecified amount was reclassified. Bloomberg (don't have the link) "Last week's additions included supplies used to replenish so- called base gas, or fuel held in permanent storage to maintain cavern pressure, that was tapped during the winter as inventories dwindled, the department said in a note accompanying its weekly report. The report did not say how much of last week's inventory gain involved restoring base-gas levels. Last week, the department said 11 billion cubic feet, or 8.8 percent, of the 125 billion in new storage reported on June 12 involved base gas that had been reclassified as available fuel by a unit of Kinder Morgan Inc. The energy companies that tapped base supplies when available supplies ran low were not required to reclassify the fuel because the withdrawals ``are viewed as short-term, temporary phenomena,'' today's report said. The department ``will continue to monitor the progress of the restoration of the outstanding balances.'' Thanks that was interesting. We are in the final week of a 6-7 week cycle downturn in NG. I'll load up as this cycle turns up. Tempertures have blasted off on East Coast US this week.
