All a bit oopsy for the early openers: Kiwis +0.2%, Aussies -0.2% and Sth Korea +0.5%. Looks like Nikkers taking the day off.

In Aussie sectors, Consumer Staples -0.8% and REITS -0.7% with upside leaders Energy +1.1% and Gold +1%.

I was banned at that site shortly after the last election. They banned my Avatar first; then banned me for pointing out factual errors in one of the owner's comments.

Here's my Avatar from that era-

Japanese government says don't worry, no health risk, just because 26 liters of Tokyo's water has the equivalent amount of radiation as a chest Xray.

Why would anyone believe anything the Japanese government has to say now about the health hazards of this crisis?

The correct way to frame the issue is whether the amount of radiation is an increase over previous

Who says that the amount prior to the fallout was zero?

Fuzzwah being Fuzzwah. I read a something of his a few years ago, on a subject that I know a lot about, and it was good enough to have most of the facts right and sound good, but had factual errors and screwed up logic here and there that led to the wrong conclusions. He's the kind of person who doesn't like having his errors exposed.

As for machinehead, magnificently brilliant and I loved having him here, but an extremely bad judge of character with a mercurial temperament. I was more than disappointed when he decided that he would no longer post here. He made a really bad judgment. It was just dead wrong. Unfathomable. I'll never forget that. An absolute genius, but his genius led him badly astray on this.

It wasn't zero, but it sure wasn't a horrific figure like this.

Think about it -- if you drink a modest 2 liters of water a day, you're getting a chest xray every 2 weeks.

It wasn't zero, (what was it?) but it sure wasn't a horrific figure like this. (how do you know?)
