Another static day. All Ords -0.1% with barely any movement in the sectors. Property Trusts is doing a weak bounce, +0.6% and IT doing a pullback, -0.7%.

 

The big miners are down: BHP -0.3% and RIO -0.9%. Golds are doing better with only Newcrest red, -0.7%.

 

Oils are looking ok, if not exciting: Woodside +0.5% and Santos +0.4%.

All Ords got its second wind in the arvo, managing an 0.5% rise. Most sectors moved into the green with Telecomms in the lead, +1.7%. Energy, Property Trusts and Financials shared second place, +0.8%. IT was the only loser, -0.5%.

 

Not a lot of action on the miners: BHP +1.1%, RIO -0.2% and in the golds, Lihir and Newmont finished +0.9% and Newcrest -0.2%.

 

Oils were reasonably stable: Woodside +0.8% and Santos +0.5%.

 

Asia mostly up: Honkers, Sth Korea and Singers all +0.8%.

TJX: At Least 45.7M Card Numbers Stolen

 

BOSTON (AP) -- More than two months after first disclosing that hackers accessed customers' financial data from its computers, discount retailer TJX Cos. has revealed that information from at least 45.7 million credit and debit cards was stolen over an 18-month period.

 

The data that was stolen covers transactions dating as far back as December 2002, TJX said in the filing Wednesday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Two Trillion

 

...and counting

 

Of the almost 10,000 hedge funds out there... a mere 350 of them are responsible (oxymoron) for $1.6 trillion.. leaving the remaining 9500 fighting for crumbs...

March 29 (Bloomberg) -- The world's hedge funds managed more than $2 trillion at the end of 2006, 30 percent more than a year earlier, even as returns trailed stock market indexes, according to a survey.
