Jimi Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Yo, Doc! At least as late as 2002/03, Kathleen Hayes used to be on "Squawk Box" on CNBC, providing bond reports of the sort that now Rick Santelli provides. Dead Mark Whathisname and Blow Kernan used to call her, "The Bond Babe." Used to bug the hell out of me - as I think I detected it did her - because she was clearly smarter than those two. Soon thereafter, she left. She's definitely great, too. I don't see Keene as an asskisser. I think he sees his role as being as possibly informed as he can be, and by directing discussion of a guest in a manner that facilitates that guest's point of view as clearly and broadly as possible. That doesn't mean he's uncritical - instead, he relies on an assumption that his listeners/viewers are smart enough to listen to what all these guests are representing, and sort out conclusions from it all for themselves. His co-host - Ken Prewitt - in my book is an asskisser, who does little to hide his relative lack of preparation for the show (e.g., by having read all the reports that clearly Keene does before a guest comes on to discuss it), and instead falls back on repeating recently-encountered generalities and "What does it mean for November" vague uninteresting queries that do little to advance much of anything. IMHFO....
Jimi Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 WTF is everyone? Freaking sunspot thing evaporate the East Coast?
Trader Joe Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Bloomberg is almost as big a pile of shit as CNBC Same for their cast of clown commentators Just my opinion

howard in nyc Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 that's funny, doc. lazlo and tom were on together yesterday, coincidentally. surely a green-screen special effect. i think kathleen hays is radio only these days. i haven't noticed her on tv for a long time.
DrStool Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Hays doesn't meet TV industry visual standards, unfortunately.
Jimi Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Bloomberg is almost as big a pile of shit as CNBC Same for their cast of clown commentators Just my opinion Thus comments the member of the cast here with a faux-clown avatar.... I can't really dispute your critique and largely agree with it. My CNBC consumption consists of single-digit minutes a week. My Bloomberg consumption is comparable, but modestly more (to see where Asia opens out here on the Left Coast). I like the Tom Keene podcasts when I'm pushing my wheelbarrow around the yard... in part because they're free. Bloomberg introduced some premium subscriber thing that cost $1/day for greater access to "Surveillance" broadcasts, but I didn't pony up for it, which suggests strongly what ultimate "value" I assign any of it. I have no idea if CNBC has podcasts - no way I'd waste even unprecious storage on it.

I saw you posting on another website the other day when I was over there flaming the well deserving. I said, "Hey, I know that guy! WTF is he doing here amongst these... well, I'd rather not characterize them. I'm not sure that I even could if I tried.
howard in nyc Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 sadly, that other website is closer to my true level. you guys here are too good, too smart, too experienced for me to have much to contribute. i keep it shut, listen and learn in these parts. over there, a little primal release. you should see me on the sports message boards. (i think i noticed you, and thought, 'no way, can't be him. he has way too much class for this joint.)
Grand Poopercycle Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 Bloomberg is almost as big a pile of shit as CNBC Same for their cast of clown commentators Just my opinion Yes, but their clowns are generally much better looking-although generally they're members of the 'tater-tot club'! That may be why Kathleen Hayes is on radio now-has the looks for it(at least vis a vis the 'club' members now on ButtBurg TeeVee).
Bungster Posted March 8, 2012 Report Posted March 8, 2012 WTF is everyone? Freaking sunspot thing evaporate the East Coast? Either that or that "Twister" thang they keep talking 'bout on TeeVee...

Jimi Posted March 9, 2012 Report Posted March 9, 2012 31 friggin' pages of it. Whatever collective civilization "we" constitute has emphatically jumped the shark.
