DrStool Posted February 2, 2003 Report Posted February 2, 2003 Reaching For The Stars 2/1/03 Doc shares with all stoolies a sense of profound sadness at the loss of heroes. But let us consider not their dying, but the wonder of their living. Seven extraordinary people spent their lives pursuing their dreams, yet always in service to their fellow man. Their courage, their dedication, and the selflessness of the entirety of their beings, are things of wonder. Now, they have achieved immortality. Doc gives a few more thoughts on this in tha Weak End Anals of Stock Proctology. Doc chronicles the market cycles in the usual intraday, short term, and intermediate outlooks, and tells us where this shipwreck is heading, with hot pictures of naked stock charts, Uncle Buck and the Golden Stool. Is the Golden Stool about to drop? Will Uncle Buck drop 'em? Drop by your stock proctologist's office and have a look.? Stoolies, log one in. If you're not a stoolie already, become one Now! GregFokker Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Well put. What we do is difficult to compare with the accomplishments of others. Finance and trading seem to be by their very nature studies in the depths to which humans can sink. Perfect zero sum games in which humanity and honesty are jettisoned quickly as dead weight. My own experiences in business were hard lessons in how dirty people can be, even when faced with a win-win situation. That's why this place and our family of Stoolies is so precious. Though most of us have never met, we're trustworthy. We're caring. We tell the truth and treat each other with respect, sympathy, and humanity. In this most dehumanizing of games, our little band of fecal warriors is rare and inspiring to me. Shit, we even manage to have fun and lotsa laughs while beating the fokkerz at their own games. So, while our contributions are not as grand or spectacular as those of the brave men & women who risk their lives for science, their country, their fellow humans, well... I'm pretty proud to be with you all here.
Guest Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 . . . our little band of fecal warriors . . . Reading that expression makes me feel so warm and fuzzy!! (I guess I was fuzzy to begin with.)
Pretzel Logic Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Very well-stated, both Doc and Fokker. There is nothing dishonorable about trading in and of itself. If you add more love than suffering to this world, you are living with honor and dignity regardless of what your chosen profession may be, and regardless of how great or small your influence is.
Guest Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 It is the wonder of their living . . .their courage, their dedication, and the selflessness of the entirety of their beings that serves to help the rest of us keep our vision elevated to the stars above even when we have to keep dealing with the mud below.
