OceanBound Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Ok, I need help as I have asked Doc and he said to ask the stoolies. When I open the Capitalstool home page in Internet Exploroer and want to access the Anals or Stooltrading, each with a seperate logon name and password I am promted for them. So far that is expected but for a little over a month I have not been able to save both logon and password sets on my machine. Thus, I must type in all that (pp-crabgrass and poop2stain) very normal logon and password data each time I log on. I used to have no problem and each link that needed a pssword as it was remembered and I could click my way through the site without touching the keyboard. I now have to remember those passwords and type those keys that are outside of my fingers normal playgrouind (the letters) to get around. Doc says you guys may know what is up with this new "feature" I have. My version of Internet Explorer is 6.0.2800.1106 Update versions: SP1, Q827667, Q828750 Thanks for the advice folks.
1debbie1 Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I started having the same problem a few weeks ago, but only with capitalstool. My user name and password for stooltrading would be saved but when I tried to enter anals it would only remember the password etc for stooltrading. If I manualy type in correct anals password etc then when I return to stooltrading it only remembers the password for anals. I couldn't solve the problem!!??
Guest Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I Have the same problem and it's a pain in the arse.
bigsky Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I also started having the same problem a few weeks ago
An Ant Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Same here after I installed a Wireless Router at home. I'm not using wireless connection but connecting my PCs to it by wire prompts me for password. Connecting directly to the DSL modem does not (uses remembered) I suspect this is something to do with how password is remembered (associated with an IP address?)
BeerMarket Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 i have the same problem, never found a fix. I'm behind a wired router - though that's been there the whole time and the problem also started for me sometime in the last couple of months.
depends Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 Yea, me too. tried searching for and deleteing every cookie with 'stool' in the name - didn't work for me. I may have a look ion the regestry today. If I find and 'stool' there (i doubt it) I'll let you know.
Bastiat Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 It sounds like the two logons look like the same site to IE. One way around it is to use an IE add-in like RoboForm which remembers logons (it's free or has a free version which would suffice). It would bring up a window which would likely have two options and you would select which one and it will fill in the userid and password (and submit also if you want).
DrStool Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 What I don't unserstand is why several people are having this issue, while others are not. I log in to the boards and subscription pages, the same as everyone else, and I have not been affected. Seems the timing coincides with instituting the new payment gateway. But once you have logged in manually and checked off the remember log-in box it should work. I would not try having two subscription windows open at one time. That might cause conflict. Hopefully someone will see this and have an answer.
DrStool Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I will have my webhost admin look into this.
sassafras Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 If you don't want to remember and type in passwords, you could download the free version of Roboform and have the application save your info on your own computer - and with no webtracking/spying involved.
richmtn Posted December 5, 2003 Report Posted December 5, 2003 I'm using both IE and Netscape browsers. I have so many windows open at a time that the Netscape Tab feature comes in handy. When I use one browser exclusively for one password and the other browser for the other password I seem to get around the problem you describe.
