If you leave Marketcrotch open on a browser throughout the trading day and notice when a new headline appears like "Stocks Losing ground in morning trading", that more often than not the market will turn just as the headline appears. I keep track of the headlines regarding the stock market for this very contrarian phenomena, which I think is sentiment based. This technique really only works for the very short term trader, though.
