briarberrys Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 Copper, very longterm... China is on pace to almost triple its annual use of copper to 20 million tons in 25 years, according to CRU, a London-based metals and mining consulting firm. That’s more than the world produces today. Rising demand will create a potential global shortage of 11 million tons a year by 2035, CRU forecasts. http://www.bloomberg...-new-stove.html The commodity bull market could last another 10 years and more, ie higher prices and scarcity. (Assuming no recessions ie2008 or pandemics). Plus Brazil, India and all the rest
Slappy Posted November 3, 2010 Report Posted November 3, 2010 TGB is trading at $4.64 this morning. 6:35 AM ET 11/3/10 | Dow Jones DOW JONES NEWSWIRES Shares of Taseko Mines Ltd.'s (TKO.T, TGB) slumped in premarket activity Wednesday, a day after the company was told its plans to develop a gold and copper mine in central British Columbia could not get Canadian approval "as proposed." President and Chief Executive Russell Hallbauer said, "We are extremely disappointed by the decision." Taseko is evaluating the Tuesday decision by the Canadian Environment Minister Jim Prentice, which is "contrary" to one by the provincial government. Hallbauer said the company plans to speak with federal and provincial government officials to "look at options so that this mining project can move forward." .... They're earning $.60 a share/yr without the new mine. That makes a P/E of under 8 this morning. If you're a long termer for the miners you may want to speculate on some.
