Rationalize Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 new art from Matta Taibbi:Rolling Stone Reports that Naked Short Selling Killed Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers http://www.deepcapture.com/rolling-stone-r...ehman-brothers/ Q: Exactly how does the market price of a company's equity affect its day to day operations? A: Not at all. If it is a going concern, generating cash flows, then the market equity price is irrelevant. The article implies that the bank was broken by the equity price falling. Wrong way around guys... Naked short sell a viable company to zero, and it still runs fine. But, assets worth zero & liabilities worth > 0 = broken bank. Duh. This is where shorting the p*ss out of zombie "crap common" is an economic service... Creative destruction, and all that Schumpeter-ian stuff.
Lemur Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Watching gold closely here for a decisive breakout above $1030 in which case I will bail in. Still smarting from being stopped out just below $990. If I had held would be up mucho bucks right now. I have a trader friend who has been scaling into gold on weakness and that has worked out well for him. Its a dangerous strategy if it goes wrong but gold looks great here right now. $990 seems to be a cement floor. As for trying to call the bottom on the dollar, well you know what they say about bottom pickers.

Lemur Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 Strapped in here waiting for this gold launch.
Lemur Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 What do they call bears who have been "scaling in" short from SPX 666? Thats the risk with that strategy. Hes making a directional bet. But right now, hes not missing the move. Sometimes you have to put your cards on the table.
Rationalize Posted October 6, 2009 Report Posted October 6, 2009 "Bwahahah" -- becoming romantically involved with a spaghetti + trailing stop combo here. Trail Stop is the blue line.
