Hiding Bear Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Welcome to B4 The Bell! The next two days of US Treasury auctions will test whether the bond market can survive the near withdrawal of Japan from the market. In Japan today the bond market hit lows for the 2004 and are near their lows for the past year: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/markets/bonds_asia.html An interesting bit about John Law: When John Law was faced with crippling sovereign debts in eighteenth century France he issued a lot of successful paper money and made the country feel rich. He was clever, brave, charming, honest and - for a while - extraordinarily popular. Unfortunately he also caused virtually everyone who had any money in France to lose it, which tends to overshadow those other qualities. How it happened is worth understanding; and never more so than now. http://www.safehaven.com/article-1424.htm

Guest Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Yields would have to be much improved (6-6.5%) before I would consider anything coming out of SoT Snowjobs sector.

Guest Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Re: Trades for anyone listening [repost from 3 hours ago on last B4 the Bell thread]] ============== Closed my DOW Cash long this A.M. British time and Inline with what I posted last night....went short at DOW10547. THIS IS ONLY A SCALP TRADE FOR ME as I think I am gambling ie trading against the trend. Why I am doing this.... ie trying to convince myself 1. We are overbought ..yeh right its a cyclical bull market so doesnt count 2. Day after full moon often shows reversal but shortterm.. something to do with the sciztophrenia[spelling] nature of the full moon. HocusPocus 3. Trin - 3 days sum hit < 1.70 last week for only time outside Mar 03 and Oct 02 lows. Yesterday the 4.75 ema closed under .7....only other time was post Oct 02 and Mar 03 lows.....NEXT DAY Mar 03.. Open -8, high -8, low -32.75, close -29.75.... Next day Oct 02 ..Open -9, high + 1.5, low -28, close -21. TechnoBabble 4. I FEEL IT IN MY BONES...most dangerous signal of them all for those following DOW long gain was over +200 from Friday pre-open last week to this A.M. Now watch me give it up with this short trade today -
HiHat Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 O.K. folks , here is my read of this morning. SnP is looking to have Gap down opening. Normally, after first hour on gap lower opening...it would be a fade and signal taking a shot and go long. Not today however. This may shape up to be TREND day down. If it is 1144-1146 area is probably worth getting short from. First target 1132............................................................................... Alot depends on if Bank...Housing....etc. keeps breaking down. Telecomm. ..Tech..........don't look good going out of chute already.
HiHat Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 IF...it's trend day down...all that amounts to is a BIG bull flag.. so after should be move back up to challenge yesterday high 1149.50. Failure there is time for swing trade short. or NOT. I still feel we get fake out with move into 1150's.....then correction thats more meaningful.

Guest yobob1 Posted April 6, 2004 Report Posted April 6, 2004 Nokia lowers it's guidance so that when they announce earnings they will beat by a penny providing yet another upside surprise. Of course by then the analcysts will all pretend to have forgotten they lowered their guidance a scant few weeks before and will surely be hoping you have too. Lordy, this is one sick game. Beat me, whip me, call me silver. Pretty resilient in the face of all else that's whipping around. Gold is also showing some solidity, but alas it's masters have not forgotten how to throw a crowbar into the works. Renewed concern about U.S. involvement (in Iraq) could put stock rally in jeopardy. From CNN/Money home page The only thing that ever puts any rally (at these levels) in jeopardy is the lack of fresh stupid money. Yesterday the Bush campaign revealed they hired 308,000 temporary campaign workers for one day on March 31. Not really, but it could happen. Bush's recent announcement of his desire to issue illegals works visas has morphed into the illegals interpreting that as an issuing of amnesty. The result has been a storming of the borders. So many are crossing they can't catch but about half and of those they do catch, most end up being given a court date and released within our borders never to be seen again, if they're not of Mexican nationality. Mexicans are sent back so they can try again tommorrow. We may as well hang up a "Welcome Terrorists" banner at the border. All of this Homeland security crap is a total fraud. Now the port auhorities are being told that there is no money to implement security measures and that private money must be used. We may as well hang up a sign there also. "All nuclear devices hidden in containers must be declared." It might be more effective. One must wonder just what in the hell is Tom Ridge doing with his 80+Billion dollar budget besides devising new ways to curtail Americans' activities and destroy what little is left of our privacy. "You say you want a revolution...........
