fanatic Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Sell Mortimer,Sell! LOOK AT THAT CLOSING VOLUME SPIKE! That's just a data feed glitch--the volume was not that huge.
Bungster Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 Oh, I do so love the smell of napalm in the morning - it smells like VICTORY!
MrHanky Posted June 22, 2011 Author Report Posted June 22, 2011 That's just a data feed glitch--the volume was not that huge. Looks that way,but here it is updated...still pretty massive.
MrHanky Posted June 22, 2011 Author Report Posted June 22, 2011 Post office suspends retirement contributions WASHINGTON – The financially troubled Postal Service is suspending its contributions to its employees' pension fund. The agency said Wednesday it is acting to conserve cash as it continues to lose money. The post office was $8 billion in the red last year because of the combined effects of the recession and the switch of much mail business to the Internet. It faces the possibility of running short of money by the end of this fiscal year in September. Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del., called the announcement "the canary in the coal mine moment for the Postal Service." http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110622/ap_on_re_us/us_postal_problems
MrHanky Posted June 22, 2011 Author Report Posted June 22, 2011 The only problem is when we drop on volume, that usually means we have a short term bottom. Tomorrow should be interesting.....I think the next 2 days are heavy POMO days.
FranciscoTheMan Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 The thing I don't understand about interpreting volume is that while it indicates much selling, it also indicates much buying. Beware empirical observations based on small sample sizes.
DrStool Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 pomo schedule is that a lot? No, that's actually very light, but so is the Treasury auction calendar this week, which will add back $9 billion in cash to the market tomorrow. Monday with the double pump was the big deal. I frankly could not understand the Fed's strategery on that. It gave them a running head start to put the lipstick on the pig going into the meeting, but then they left nothing for today and the Bensubstantiation rally. It makes no sense. Those jerks really don't get it. They're delusional and out of touch with reality, in other words, insane.

Well, they may have been using the money to pump prices up, so they could get out at good prices before Ben did his Whip Inflation Now program. That is, Ben spoke about reality to some degree, rather than speaking about the unicorns and stardust economy the way he usually does. Maybe this is his way of trying to get people to feel pessimistic enough to dump commods, causing them to deflate, so he won't be blamed so much for inflation. Doc, I don't understand about the Treasuries. Why would the PD's be short them when the Fed is having to buy them themselves, due to lack of buyers. Aren't the Fed and the PD's in conflict there? Or are the PD's just content to wait until the buyers for Treasuries disappear later in the future, driving rates up, and making their short positions profitable at that time? BTW, Doc, Congrats on having your money in your mattress.
