Guest yobob1 Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 Mr. Mauldin asks the same question I have asked many times regarding devaluing the dollar.....against what? What other fiat out there should be more valuable? Unfortunately he is still of a fiat mind set and only appears to be looking for solutions within that framework. Sorry that's where you lose me. It is fiat that is at the very heart of the problem and suggesting that by fine tuning through globally coordinated interventions and "modest" monetary expansions some semblence of normalcy can be returned, is to ignore the beast that hunts all of us. Until the people of this planet are allowed to choose, on their own, a desired medium of exchange the fiat system will continue to spin wildly out of control until it implodes.
fxfox Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 nice and pretty woman are one of the most wonderfull things on earth and i definitely enjoy the photo above. But we are no porn site. mksloth Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 Mauldin refers to the Mogambo Guru's latest rant from the daily reckoning. If ever there's somebody more caustic than Drano on the financial markets, then it's definitely Daughty. In any case, Daughty had a priceless line about CDOs as a means of offsetting risk - Note, and this is the crucial detail, so kinda skoonch your chair up real close so that you can see this clearly, that there is no systemic reduction in risk whatsoever! None! Risk has not been reduced one iota. The only difference is that instead of one guy having a lot of risk to bear, now we have a dozen guys, each with a piece of that risk, and some money changed hands that offset the risk. But at the end of the day, all the risk is all still there, and net money has been lost from the system, via expenses and costs and lawyer fees and God only knows what all. So how does one enter into a CDO and make a profit? The answer can be obtained by inspection: you don't. And you don't because this is obviously a net-loss deal. And if there is one investment certainty in the world, it is that it is difficult to show a long-term profit by constantly entering into net-loss deals, and that is why entering into net-loss deals is never mentioned in any books as a way to get rich quick

K Wave Rider Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 A perfect description of the power and fury of the K-Wave winter... ""Think about that. In just three years, the Japanese government will have to finance their spending by selling bonds equal to 50% of their budget. That would be the US equivalent of a trillion dollar deficit. And even with this huge government created currency, they seemingly cannot create inflation. " Coming soon (very soon, methinks) to our shores....
