BeerMarket Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 posting this on the bear thread because in my opinion this sort of double-speak is just another sign of a top - via barfing.com: 07:14 ET Xilinx upped to Buy from Neutral at UBS (XLNX) 25.69: Firm views XLNX as a very high quality company and feels that investors should take advantage of the lower than expected guidance for the September quarter and related weakness in the stock to add to positions. UBS maintains its $32 target on the name.
BeerMarket Posted July 18, 2003 Report Posted July 18, 2003 as I think I've posted here before, I always like to see what FCS has to say about business conditions because they serve multiple end markets and tend to avoid hype (lies). Fairchild Semiconductor Reports Second Quarter Results "In our major market segments, orders from automotive, game consoles and portable power adapters were particularly strong," said Wildenberg. "Bookings from computing including notebooks, desktops, and storage as well as televisions were down sequentially. In our distribution channels, currently accounting for approximately 65% of our total sales, inventories increased to about 15 weeks, driven almost exclusively by a two week increase in our Asian channel. If you read further, part of the strength in automotive was due to new design wins so may not reflect that end market accurately.
