DrStool Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 We all need to close our eyes and skip the stuff we don't like. Including me sometimes, I guess. Doc is getting a little cranky about certain things. First of all, I will protect those people who are an asset to the business of Capitalstool.com. Yes, some folks are more equal that others. Please don't attack those people. You know who they are. If you mess with them, you are messing with my family's well being. Do not attack me. I don't have time for the disruptions it causes. People take sides and factions develop. Arguments erupt. Ugly stuff. So if you don't like Doc's way, don't waste your breath, please just leave. Do not speak with hostility toward your fellow stoolies. They are all doing the best they can with what they have. If you don't like something they did, bring it to the attention of the moderators and me. I really don't like it when people start telling each other how they would like them to behave. Obviously some behaviors are over the line, but for the most part, if you are irritated by someone, just ignore them. We are not here to judge or give instructions to one another about what we should be thinking. Either you like it here, or you don't. Don't expect everyone to think and act like you do. They are absolutely fine exactly as they are. Let it be. If you see something in a post that is really outrageous, please use the "Report this post" link at the lower right. It will notify me or the moderator, and we will handle it. Basically the rule is live and let live. Almost all of you are just fine, but there's been some carping lately by a few people. I want it to stop. Finally, I usually handle these things in a private message, but my temper has gotten the better of me lately, and I have made a few of these remarks publicly. My bad. Hope none of you felt embarrassed. It's on me if you do. In the immortal words of that great L.A. philosopher, Rodney King, "I mean, can't we all just get along, you know?" We are the Stool. We are the children! Your loving stock proctologist, Doc
Flaming Turds Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 Well said. You cant have a real discussion about such complex issues as markets and how they relate to society without having a very open discourse. Censorship cripples the free flow of information and that is bad bad bad. All hail the Stool!
Takachi Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 I think a good trader has to have a certain bombast and confidence that sometimes comes out as self promotion. Sometimes it really is self promotion, but so what! When you're good, you're good, and when you're not, Oh Well. Its part of being a stoolie to simply move past the noise and get to the gems of truth in any post or poster. In fact, the brilliance of stool, imo, is Doc's forebearance to let all kinds of lunatic things go on, kind of a controlled chaos out of which order is sphinctered out. All I care about is it works and we have a good laugh along the way.
DrStool Posted February 1, 2003 Author Report Posted February 1, 2003 Is there such a thing as "controlled chaos?"
Goldmember Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 I don't know about "controlled chaos" but almost every worksite I'm on is a clear cut case of "organized chaos". I try to lessen the madness by avoiding comercial sites and I stick with high-end residential house construction. Far less maddening in my construction line of work, though I prefer to call myself an artist. At least that makes it easier to get through the day. I shouldn't kid myself however, what I do really is fine artisan craftsmanship. It does get a little harder on my weary bones sometimes though. Great site Doc, even with the recent additions coming in fast and furious. I try and read all the posts here and it becomes more and more time consuming. I wouldn't have it any other way, though. Congatulations on all that Stoolville has so far accomplished, and the EXCELLENT work you perform every day.
DogBoy Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 "Rule number 1 is to have fun! " Right on !!!! I recall a quote from a Jimmy Buffett song Changes in Latitudes: "If we couldn't laugh we'd all go insane" One problem that comes with the knowledge we gain from thie site is that our world system and it's inner working are revealed in all their nakedness. And because it's in such horrid shape these days it's quite a burden to know "what's really going on". I often think how much more blissful and peaceful it would be to have never learned what I know about the world. To just beleive that our leaders in the business and political world are all good and just men who have OUR best interests at heart. Ah, what a feeling of peace it must be to be ingorant !!!! Is there a WEB site I can go to and be brain-washed into being ignorant again ? I feel like that little kid in the cartoon who is transported in the past in the "Way Back Machine" and always seems to get into a fix like an army attacking him or something. Then he cries out to Mr. Wizard to beam him back up.
Guest yobob1 Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 Is there such a thing as "controlled chaos?" Yes, it's called the stock market.
DipShit Posted February 1, 2003 Report Posted February 1, 2003 We are fortunate to have been dumped out of the mouth of the river into Stoolville. It sure beats being up shits creek without a paddle. We have the same objective. As in all large families, there are times you hear things that you just have to "let go." Thanks for the site, the fellowship, and all the hard work Doc.

Are you a closet libertarian? :wink2:
