HardAssets Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Hi all. Anyone know of an indicator or chart that gives just the difference between the up volume and down volume?
Stutz Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 SG, when I play those 2x Rydex funds I keep money aside to hedge with QQQ's that way I can "get out" at anytime time. It sucks being locked in if it goes against you intraday. Ditto. Stopped out of QQQs for beer money. Thanks again.
Rockhead Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Hi all. Anyone know of an indicator or chart that gives just the difference between the up volume and down volume? Tradestation has a "Volume Ratio" Definition...The Volume Ratio indicator calculates an exponential moving average of the ratio between up and down volume. The exponential average is then plotted as an oscillator around a zero line. Volume can provide insight into the strength or weakness of a price trend. This indicator plots positive values above the zero line, and negative below. A positive value suggests there is enough market support to continue to drive price activity in the direction of the current trend. A negative value suggests there is a lack of support and prices may begin to become stagnant or reverse.
GregFokker Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Hi all. Anyone know of an indicator or chart that gives just the difference between the up volume and down volume? I'm not. It might be ADVDECV on Deadcharts, but am not sure if that's volume or issues. Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Metamucil Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 Shorting more QQQ, SPY and SMH now. Looks like the approx SPX 880 area is where we build the right shoulder. As always, though, Cmaps are the primary signal.
sniff Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 I do have a question on the QQQ. I also run a channel chart on QQV. The channel is 34.50 to 48.50. ( just use your imagination for a chart) It is now at 46.65.... Therefore, it is nearing a major resistance point.... Like the VIX this is an upside down chart. Higher means the QQQ should be falling. Unless it blasts through 48.50.The QQQ could go back up..... This is just not according to our plan...... is the QQV giving false signals? or is it just to new to be reliable? my qqq trading chart shows it at support.... at 26.40... It would be nice to stay below that number... but still keeping an eye on QQV this is just an observation.... it's just on my chart. qqv keeps changing....... it is now 47.02

Rockhead Posted December 4, 2002 Report Posted December 4, 2002 volume Sweef, that link just changed my life. GF...please....no getting religious on us here. Sweef...it is a nice link. However, I have found that when you are using one platform (say Tradestation), then switch to another platform (say Street Smart Pro) all the symbols for these "other things" (volume, advancers, decliners, advancing volume, etc) change and are never the exactly same. They be close, but not always the same. Confusing as hell sometimes. Hard Assets....so which one did you actually need?
