Guest Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 The Fed took away $6 in repos, and like I mentioned more than two weeks ago, they will be a little tighter in monetary policy from early November until the date of the rate increase announcement. Also today, they also bought $1.2 billion in TIPS. This continues what seems to be a trend by the Fed of monetizing new bonds just before or after they are issued. Here we can directly see how the federal budget deficit is an important reason why the Fed must keep expanding the monetary base, and indirectly the money supply. The stock market, if it advances from here, will be fighting a temporary tightening by the Fed and a stagnant money supply. HB....or any stoolie.... I smell a rat on yields to FCBs and to themselves. Any info?

Butterfield 8 Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Blackbox oversight.... from Miami Herald.com Tuesday, November 02, 2004 Removal of Broward voting machines Twenty-one voting machines in Broward County have been removed from polling places because of various errors, said Deputy Supervisor of Elections Gisela Salas. They have all been replaced with new machines. The malfunctioning machines are being delivered to Broward County's voting equipment center, where votes that were cast will be extracted, Salas said.Salas would not specify the problems with the machines and downplayed any possibility of voter disenfranchisement.Early voting ballots will be counted first once the polls close at 7 p.m., followed by today's incoming precinct results, and finally, absentee votes. posted at 1:30 PM Reports of voting machine malfunctions continue As registered voters continue to arrive and the clock winds down, reports of malfunctioning machines continue to come in.One of the five voting machines at Precinct 31-E in Coral Springs was shutdown at about 10:30 a.m. because of calibration problems.''What that basically means is that when a voter presses the box next to a candidate the machine, it's possible the machine will register a different candidate,'' said Carl Fowler, Emergency Operations Center spokesman. The machine will be taken to election central headquarters, in Fort Lauderdale, where it will be hooked up to a tabulation unit and all votes uploaded.Three more machines, two in Coconut Creek and one in Margate, malfunctioned before votes could be cast. The machines failed to bootup,'' Fowler said.As of shortly before noon, about ten more machines were reported to have problems. --WANDA J. DEMARZO

lucid and confused Posted November 2, 2004 Report Posted November 2, 2004 Gawd I don't know Dozer , how much to charge , what the going rate. $4 billion for maybe 100 million votes = $40/vote Just got back from voting in da bronx... Note of interest, both my finacee and I were registered republicans on their voting polls, which struck me rather oddly because I'm independent and she's a registered democrat Lotsa TV crews milling about the place (read elementary school) too, guess there must have been some politico present
