Join Doc as he beta tests Stooltrading, a new intraday service for those with a very short term focus, who want a timing edge, or simply those who want to follow along for the fun of it. See how Doc does at calling intraday highs and lows using time cycles and cmaps! Doc will post cycle charts with time zones and cmaps (price targets), and brief comments, for the SPX and QQQ on the hour and half hour during the trading day, with bull it ins, as needed. In case of bull it in, Doc will post an alert here on IDS. Charts will be updated at least every half hour, or more often if time permits, so refresh the Stooltrading page frequently.

Once the kinks, bugs, and glitches are ironed out this will become a separate subscription based service, but for now, it's free and open to all comers. So please doo drop them in for for frequent visits!

The first comments will be posted at 9:15 AM NY time each day.

The temprorary url for Stooltrading is at http://www.capitalstool.com/trades.htm

I know ads are important for you, but I wonder if

they are needed on the stooltrader. It is a tool

box type window and the smaller you can make

it the better. By removing the ads on it you could reduce

it's size by maybe 20%.

Additionally this would make it less prone to be

accidently clicked and change to an add as sometimes

happens.

Other than that I was going to ask you to change the

meta tag title but you caught that.

Anyway, Doc, I like this much better than the when

it was in the Anals. Thanks.

Doc, it's probably a coincidence, but both days when you were testing Stooltrading, there were complaints that access to the other forums was slow. I couldn't check often today, so I don't know whether the slowdown was there from my point of view, but the first day things were so slow that I couldn't post messages to the forums. And it wasn't just an Internet glitch between my site and yours, either, because I could load the Anals very fast.

If the next time you're testing Stooltrading there are again complaints about a slowdown in the other forums, you might want to start looking for the cause of the problem.

Vesselin

Doc....

Exactly what VB said. Same problem here. Experienced it today (1/10/03) only. :( Other day was had the problem of being auto logged off several times from the site  but I think you fixed that one. :D

Otherwise, I like the latest method. :)

Question.....

1. When Stooltrading goes subscription, will there still be an AM and PM Anals update or will it just get cut back to nightly Anals? I think when I subscribed to the Anals, it was reported to be a twice a day update. I cant remember. ;)

2. What's the price guesstimate......are we experiencing inflation or deflation? :P

3. Monthly, quarterly, semiannual, yearly or "life of the Stool" subscriptions rates?

Posted

The Anals will still have Pre Market and PM updates.

The ads will be removed when it goes subscription.

I noticed a problem with the site being slow today for about 10 minutes. If it happens again, I will try to track down the problem.

I was thinking of offering weekly, monthly, quarterly, and maybe annual subs. Pricing will depend partly on how well I do during the trial phase, and what kind of feedback I get from you. I want it to be inexpensive enough so that anyone who wants to try it will not be deterred, but not so cheap that it doesn't pay.

Any suggestions? Maybe I'll do a survey.

Stooltrading is fantastic and should be a real subscription builder.

Stooltrading takes a lot more work than the Anals and should be priced accordingly. You should charge, in my opinion at least twice as much. Regarding pay periods, I'd skip the weekly, perhaps do a monthly as an introductory trial subscription period and just do quarterly and/or yearly pay periods.

Also,

What are your plans for Stooltrading on those days you have to be away from the computer during market hours?

By the way, over 2,100 hits on Stooltrading Friday. Wait till word gets out.

I'd like more feedback on the subscription periods.

Mousey-

I was gonna axe you to pinch hit. ?

The horror. . . . The horror. :o

Regarding subscription periods.....personally, I would suggest as many different time frames you can offer. Of course, as long as it can be an automated process from your side that is. If Pay Pal, etc. can create automatic passwords and recognize time frames for the subscription and when they come due, I see no disadavantage as to offering even weekly subscription services.

Some people, myself included, go in cycles for trading. Usually, I dont trade nearly as much during summer months due to a seasonal business I run. (That may change this year for personal reasons). I wouldnt want a semiannual subscription that involves the summer months if I am not using it.

I still need to test Stooltrading a bit more from my perspective. I hope you run it in its "final format" for at least a one week period before going subscription and gives us a heads up for the subscription start date. Honestly, with so many websites, research, stock screeners, entering trades, montioring the markets, chat, etc., I dont know how much more I can handle.

However, I think it is a fantastic idea Doc and am sure it will "work" for you quite nicely. This is still one of the damn best financial sites on the web.

One idea though which I believe is important for you Doc....make sure everyone subscribes to the Anals first, then they can subscribe to Stooltrading. No Stooltrading subscriptions, without Anal subscriptions.

As far as subscritption cost, I dont know. I honestly dont know if I would pay $10 or $100/month. Straight up, I need to start becoming more more frugal with subscription fees. I've got so many "subscriptions" and fee based things already, somewhere I gotta draw the line. I also want some new software. Who/what goes, who/what stays.....you know...choices we all have. With that said, you probably should be taking an "invisble" poll as to the fee, then forget what the poll says and charge whatever you want..."whats your time worth". However....never price things too high and come down. That never looks good. You can always go up in price!

But then again, what the hell do I know.

3,000 hits today. Cool!

Many tanks for dropping them in!

I have decided on a price structure. I do not intend to implement it for quite awhile.

Whatever your structure, I just hope you put more thought into it than you did on you pinch hitter. :wink2:

Just experimenting with pointing to crossovers in the cycle ozzie. This isn;t a good day to try anything. They gotta move.
