sweefraapp Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 DJ Atmel Up -2: Article Says Intel Flash Prices 20% To 40% By Will Daley Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Shares of Atmel Corp. (ATML) rose as much as 39% on Monday, amid speculation that Intel Corp. (INTC) is raising prices for flash memory chips. Chief Financial Officer Donald Colvin cited talk of the price boost as one reason for the strong advance in Atmel's stock. The buzz apparently stemmed from an article in DigiTimes.com, a Taiwan-based newspaper and web site that covers the information technology industry. DigiTimes.com reported that a Taiwanese distributor of Intel CPUs says Intel plans to hike flash memory prices an estimated 20% to 40% starting Jan. 1.

EasyAl Posted November 25, 2002 Report Posted November 25, 2002 Stoolies: The Fed's recent intervention in stock market has been so obvious that even Stephen Roach of Morgan Stanely was publically stating the obvious (and Morgan permitted him to publish too). Here is an excerpt of what Mr. Roach wrote: In my view, the Fed can?t even afford to flirt with such risks. By launching a full-scale frontal assault on deflation, it has finally put its cards on the table: By catching the "shorts" by surprise, the Fed is attempting to lift the real economy by playing the time-worn equity wealth effect. Sadly, we?ve been to this well all too often in the past seven years. Why should this rally be any different from those that have ultimately failed in the past? full column here
