The system is so corrupt, it's unbelievable. The sense of entitlement in DC & NYC defies the mind.

Rome all over again IMO... but who might the Barbarians be this time?

I played around with a fractal program for a while once for a few minutes.

Here's a couple interesting ones.

The Roman citizens were more serfs with unbelievable taxation and welcomed any barbarian/ change. Soldiers were the only necessary cost.
Thus, taxation is next.

IMHO a tax revolt of some kind wouldn't be a huge surprise.

The "we the taxpayers are funding obscene bankster bonuses" meme may be nearing critical mass.

Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the Matrix. You are the eventuality of an internal anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts, I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden assiduously avoided, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you, inexorably, here.
You haven't answered my question.
Quite right. Interesting. That was quicker than the others.

Yup, once the taxation monster is let loose, the fall of the empire is usually not too far behind....

Gonna be interesting to see how things look 100 years later, eh?

We've come a long way from 1%, which I believe is about where the Romans started out before things got out of hand....

This book apparently is written by a former Goldman insider about the Barbarians pillaging at at will...I haven't read it yet, but it looks interesting.

We are.

On a societal level, we are sacking/raping/pillaging ourselves.

When we are done with this orgy of excess, we will lay exhausted in the streets looking at the destruction and wonder what possessed us. The marble temples will fall into disrepair. The population will shrink. A future Gibbon will reflect on the causes of the self-inflicted mayhem that laid low an empire so soon on the heels of its total global preeminence.
