brian4 Posted December 5, 2002 Report Share Posted December 5, 2002 Butt- On gold stocks-GG-Goldcorp is one I own and have for a long time-a lot of your fellow posters own it as well it is totally unhedged and pays a nice dividend which you can have in cash or gold. Another good one I own is RGLD-Royal Gold-Royal has many interests in other gold producers thru royalties. This gives them a huge cash flow thru good times and bad. Lots of supports broken yesterday and today looking like just a drift back up to what is now resistance. Quite a bit of marginal red on the screen, thinking index rise is mainly due to the heavily weighted banks being bought by the dippers. I've been waiting and hoping it would send GE to the trash bin. GE has 25B of airline exposure but I don't know how much specific to UAL. On the multicultural thing, I don't care what culture is lived but I am getting tired of groups wanting special rights. We all have one set of rights guaranteed under the constitution and those historically were good enough for everybody. At one point Cincinnati had hiring preferences for Appalacians just up from the hollers! Mark, my pet peeve commercials are the spate of ads for Annuities. Those puppys have a return of a maybe 2 or 3 percent with a lifetime income that, when Al gets his hyperinflatioin, will be less than worthless except to wipe your butt. I'm getting them in the mail from banks now too. What moron would lock in an annuitized income when we have the Fed determined to inflate us out of this wrecked economy. The bastards should be hung. Figuring it will probably bounce and close the gap today at some point I bought some at 2.38 - hoping to scalp it to at least 2.70. Of course, that gap might not be filled for 10 years, but worth a shot - I figure. Even if we're wrong, at least we are trying to act on our beliefs. Always a good thing. And even better if you are reasonably patient, but not complacent or stubborn. If it goes too far against me I will dump it. And the cost will be chalked up to learning how to really trade these markets. Not so easy, is it? AssMaster, I can't speak for you but, what I am doing with this move is pure casino. Just trying to get a little action in for a day or two by trying to outgame "the House". I still think this may pop up again before the end of the year as in what we discussed last night. Don't some of you think of multiculturalism as an asset in many cases? I know I envy those who possess it, such as my physician who speaks five languages. There are EXCEPTIONS, of course, such as terrorists who steal an education from the west and later use it against the west. For those who think Niles and other anal cysts are economic terrorists, well, I won't argue with that. This column is written by an obviously gifted individual and the readership is too great to allow direct insults to those who originate in other places (hey -- doesn't that include virtually all of us a couple of generations back?). I have been lurking here for many months and want to give special thanks to Doc (I subscribe), Brian4, PileDriver, and others who managed to boost our flagging morale while others capitulated. In my case, I held onto to a long BEARX position from 1998 and am glad I did. And by the way, whoever posts those put-call ratios in Intra-Day Stool, PLEASE don't stop -- they're really handy. One world, one love, one truth, etc. Fair nuff. But, in all sincerity, I've come to be FAR more offended by the relentless, unmerciful hallmark-bullshit-niceness that has been applied like a thin layer of candy-frosting over a core of turd. Reality is and continues to be reality. But now, it's all sugar-coated in with a veneer of politically-correct neutrality that has long-since crossed the line into dishonesty. Mark makes a slur? Fine. That's his feeling, and he's honest about it, and the reader can take it or leave it. We're all freaking adults here. The marketplace of ideas is free. I hear antisemitic slurs all over the place. I hear anti-male sentiment couched in political correctness multiple times per day from every nook and cranny, at every end of the intellectual spectrum. The world sucks, people, and people tend to suck too. At least with honesty, we can calibrate ourselves and react sincerely without being suckerpunched by the hidden, hypothecated truth. My goodness, I haven't been dumped by a girl in almost a decade who didn't try to bullshit me with the "let's be friends" thing. Just once, I'd like to meet a person with the stones to spit out the truth. A politician with the spine to state a sincere position and let people label him/her accordingly. Looking at my daily charts of the dow and showing 27 indicators pointing down. Wow! The spx looks like the same boat. The boyz really have to pump this one. UAL is in deep sh#t. They will go ch.11 and this will be a sad deal. This company has been around for years and years. When a company like this files you know things are real bad out there. Read a caption today saying faa found ual was using tape on the wings. I?m here to tell you, you need more than tape to keep these beasts up. When ual goes ch.11 this will smash the dow. He holds his position as head of the FED because he will do whatever it takes to protect their interests. So how honest can you expect him to be? You want him to say, "Yeah, I'm going to screw-over 99% of the plantet to keep my friends on Wall Street happy and wealthy and all those good guy politicians in Washington in power"?
