Art Cashin on CNBS was sporting a "Dow 10,000" baseball hat.
Hillarious!

The hat was from 1999! Talk about a buy-n-hold anti-thesis

Famous last words:

Federal Reserve Release
Date: October 3, 2008
For immediate release

I applaud the action taken by the Congress. It demonstrates the government's commitment to do what it takes to support and strengthen our economy. The legislation is a critical step toward stabilizing our financial markets and ensuring an uninterrupted flow of credit to households and businesses.

The Federal Reserve will continue to work closely with the Treasury as it undertakes these new initiatives. We will continue to use all of the powers at our disposal to mitigate credit market disruptions and to foster a strong, vibrant economy.

Suds, I think what used to be the VIX is now the VXO - tops were mid 50s to low 60s.

You haven't answered my question.
Quite right. Interesting. That was quicker than the others.

You're right. In 98 VXO intraday high was 60.63 and 57.31 after 9/11.

Today it spiked to 56.65

When they launched the new VIX they recalfigurated the historical data.

Right...to accompany the new, permanent plateau of riskless prosperity.

What's that burning smell?
