Drano
Hey Drano Did you see my note yesterday about Minneapolis' famous Benjamin Drano? Famed swindler from bus company days. I cannot find anything on the web on him since he harks back to the 50s and 60s. 661394 I thought you were kidding. You mean that's for real? :o :o

beardrech
Sounds like a cardiologist giving the Good News ... you've had your heart attack and survived. They couldn't salvage some of the muscle in time, though, so there was some damage. Acute doesn't mean It's Over. The recurrent pains set in, the long waits in the waiting rooms, the pissy insurance people, the IV catheters, the rectal exams ... The suffering lingers ... they often don't tell you the Bad News up front. 661392 Once again into the breech my posts keep disappearing--I think it happens when my progress wheel keeps urning and I keep hitting the enter butoon--- Patient:Well Doctor whats the good news?? Doctor: The Acute phase is over... Patient:Thank You Thank You everlastingly Thanks to You Doctor... Doctor: Please, a little patience;you patients are so impetuously impatient... Patient:Why? what else do I need to know???? Doctor:In three days you'll be dead,a corpse,Kaput.... patient: Then what in hell were you talking about? Doctor I said the ACUTE phase was over- Patient: I heard you--and then what? Doctoer: And then in three days maximum you'll die,a corpse,Kaput....But Painlessly Patient; Gee Doc,thats too damn bad... Doctor:Why do you say that;we all gotta go sometime [silence] Cat gotour tongue? Patient: My CDs for paying you mature in three weeks. Doctor: In that case Ill give you a month more to live.... beardrech: From Henny Youngman with emendations

Brisbane Bear
talk about terrible timing... Wages outbreak in OZ. Unions defy Rudd on pay deals UNIONS have launched a direct challenge to the Rudd Government and the ACTU by pursuing wage claims of up to 19 per cent to offset rising inflation and to "catch up" on pay rises lost under the Howard government. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,23663846-421,00.html

Faster
I thought you were kidding. You mean that's for real? :o :o 661396 For real. If I recall correctly, Drano was a contraction from the Serbian or Croatian, something like Dranogovich. They adopted Drano in the US. Unless of course it was like Armand Hammer who took his name from the baking soda, or was it the communist flag. Yeah, the Drano and TCRT scandal lasted for years. Carl Pohlad took over the shell of the bus company. Can only assume that there was real estate in there somewhere. I may remember some of the other names in the long scandal. Oh yes, Benjamin had a brother involved in the scandal too. There were two Dranos. Fred Ossanna is the one that keeps appearing in reference to it, but as I recall the Dranos were from a more serious side of the scandal. Democrat politics, the teamsters, and bad things were all part of this mix.

shorty
Play by the rules and act ethically - the government tells you to go F yourself. Break your contract, stop making payments, don't honor your commitments - the government is there to shower taxpayer money on you to make sure you don't walk away from your depreciating debt-trap. This is what's become of America folks. A country whose corrupted Democratic and Republican leaders screw honest, hard working and ethical people every chance they get, doing the bidding of their bank and REIC masters, redistributing taxpayer money from the honest to the dishonest. People who pay as promised get nothing. No cut in principal. No reduction in interest rate. Nothing. People who DON'T pay get everything. Not because Big Daddy Government cares about them, but because it wants to make sure the banks don't fail and home prices don't fall to their natural levels. Bankers and the REIC gave all that money to Dodd and Frank for a reason you know. A bill being pushed by House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank, D-Mass. would allow the Federal Housing Administration to back as much as $300 billion in refinanced loans for homeowners facing foreclosure. - HousingPANIC
Faster
I thought you were kidding. You mean that's for real? :o :o 661396 This is all that I can find on the Dranos, which does not mention them by name: --- The Twin City Rapid Transit Company (a New Jersey corporation) was incorporated in 1891 as a holding company, with the MSR and the SPCR as wholly-owned operating subsidiaries. The TCRT was succeeded in 1939 by a new Minnesota corporation of the same name. A management change in 1949 brought New York financier Charles Green to the presidency of the Twin City Rapid Transit Company. Green and his associates decided to abandon the streetcar lines and convert to buses as quickly as possible, apparently in order to maximize their short-term profit. The company's entire streetcar fleet was scrapped and replaced by buses in an aggressive conversion plan completed in 1954 under TCRT president Fred A. Ossanna, a former associate of Green's who managed to oust him in 1951. Ossanna and four of his associates were convicted in 1960 of defrauding the TCRT of company assets, including scrap metal and real estate, during the conversion. Twin City Rapid Transit Company changed its name in 1962 to Minnesota Enterprises Incorporated, and in 1970 this firm became MEI Corporation. MEI left the transit business in 1970 with the takeover of its Twin City Lines subsidiary by the Twin Cities Area Metropolitan Transit Commission, an agency created by the Minnesota Legislature and charged with maintaining and improving public mass transit in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. --- It is my recollection that the four associates included the Dranos. What is fun is the thread that runs from NY through transportation. Kind of like today and kilo dollar oil.

Kind of like today and kilo dollar oil. 661405 More on this history on: Kid Cann There you can read about the jewish mobs and the Irish mobs here in reference to the illustrious Kid Cann Blumenfeld. --- There was a high degree of political and civil corruption in the region in the 1920s and 1930s. The mainstream newspapers hardly mentioned what was going on, as any outlet that published articles critical of the status quo were threatened. Some small alternative newspapers attempted to report what was going on, but reporters and editors quickly became targets. Howard Guilford of the Twin City Reporter was shot and killed on September 6, 1934. A decade later the paper lost another reporter when Arthur Kasherman was killed on January 22, 1945. --- What resonates today is the murder of newspaper folk, just as is happening in Russia today, with their mob activity. Boy those were nasty days. At least the boys on Wall Street are more civilized.
Schonthaler
The Big Walk Away is Coming It?s only a matter of time before the Big Walk Away becomes even bigger. That?s right, when you get right down to it, why does anyone have to meet their obligations. Just take the Big Walk Away. Why should homeowners try to make payments on over valued property? Just walk away and all your troubles will be over. In fact your Government is telling you not to worry, Uncle Sam will bail you out. Your government is bailing out huge corporate institutions at time when the Federal government can?t meet its obligations. So why not walk? You have nothing to loose. If leverage buyouts were rewarded and are now back stopped by your tax dollars, then why not get some of your tax money back? And now thousands of individuals are taking the Big Walk Away. But wait, is it limited to just the consumer? No. Every institution will take the Big Walk Away - everything from Corporations to Cities to States.
