The first person that explains what "trade in your hours, for a hand full of dimes" means, wins a Capitalstool Vanity plate. I know.

It's about the swapping of dime bags of heroin for hours of life.

"Your ballroom days are over, baby
Night is drawing near"

Death draws near. The addiction has run its course.

"Shadows of the evening crawl across the years"

"Shadows of the evening" are the addicts who roam the streets, looking for cash for a baggie.

"Ya walk across the floor with a flower in your hand"

The flower is a lillie, the flower of death.

"Trying to tell me no one understands"

An addict's plight is that no one understands the addiction and its call.

"Trade in your hours for a handful dimes
Gonna’ make it, baby, in our prime"

Jimi wins the prize. It could also mean Pot but, I will accept that . Pm me your address . B)
NONE of what I type, should be taken as financial advice.

And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest that you've sown
And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone
And it's too late to loose the weight you used to need to throw around
So have a good drown, as you go down, alone
Dragged down by the stone.

If you think 5:1 is the ratio of Viet Cong to US soldiers killed, you'd be mistaken"

What's the answer? Most likely Morrison selected the song's title not because it echoed a ratio that had any particular referent, but simply because he liked the sound and meter of the phrases "five to one" and "one in five." The mocking final verse of "Five to One" indicates that he probably had no specific group in mind when he wrote the lyrics; that in general, as Doors song explicator Chuck Crisafulli noted, Morrison "seemed to be interested in revolution but at the same time disgusted by the revolutionaries":

    Your ballroom days are over, baby;
    night is drawing near.
    Shadows of the evening
    crawl across the years.
    Ya walk across the floor
with a flower in your hand,
    trying to tell me
    no one understands.
    Trade in your hours
    for a handful dimes;
    gonna make it, baby,
    in our prime.

The secret of "Five to One" died with Jim Morrison, for the singer never told anyone -- not even his bandmates -- what he was protesting or what the titular ratio represented. Unless, as rumor has it, Mr. Mojo Risin' faked his death in Paris in 1971and shed his identity to lead a life incognito, the meaning "Five to One" will forever remain a mystery

The top 100 in the after hour are closed-up 33, unch-12-DOWN 55 and I must some veeery hard downs. ;)

Arafat is in dire straits...may die soon. They claim they still have no diagnosis for his ailments.

Poison? Just old age?

Ariel Sharon praises re-election of Bush as a win for the fight against terror.

How does the Arab world feel about Bush today? How will they feel if Israel tries to take advantage of a power vacuum in Palistinian territory?

I smell geopolitical mayhem on the horizon with the backing of the neocon junta.

plunger....you're scaring -me- man! :P

your scenario sounds so....in-line....correlated...with all that's gone before.

Our showing went well.....the craziest thing...you stoolies will love this...

a bunch of "kids" showed up! (you can tell I'm gettin old...)

4 girls, 3 guys, and one of the girls has a rich mom I guess. They're living in yurts right now... :P

So I'm wondering how the heck "kids" are gonna pay for a 259K parcel, and am I just wasting my time....

Near the end, I ask, in a nice way, if they're prepared to act, i.e. do ya got the cash

Girl says: no problem, but it's in stocks, where it's appreciating...

I kinda stare open-mouthed for a second, then say "uhh...you know, the market has dropped over a hundred points in the past few hours..."

She looks a little peakid... "but I thought it was up today??"

I said, it was...until shrub opened his mouth...dollar's tanking too...oil's heading up...

her boyfriend off to the side mumbles something like "I -told- your mom she should've sold !....I -told- her..."

PERFECT opening for me....I say "sounds like this would be a good time for you to get out of stocks and into land....solid safe stuff". She starts nodding vigorously, smiling thanks, saying "oh yeah, definitely!".

:D :D :D

I'm hoping she's having a warm heart-to-heart with mom tonight...we gotta get it sold, and the cash into forex, before we get -creamed- on dollar losses...

On our National Newscast they interviewed a Hog Fat, balding guy with thick glasses who packages books for a living. The Guy looked like if he ran around the room twice his life was over BUT he was a honcho in the "Religious Right" who basically said their time had come and they had their Prez and all was well with the World....very scaaaaaaary! When clowns like this Guy decide who is good and who is baad there is no difference between your religious wacko's and the Ayatollahs-none. What has happened to America??

Diplomats: Nuke Report on Iran May Weaken U.S. Case
Louis Charbonneau | Vienna | November 3
Reuters - A new report on U.N. nuclear inspections in Iran may be worded in a way that undermines the U.S. case for reporting Tehran to the Security Council this month, diplomats said Wednesday.

we got run over Brian.

run over by the largest, most scientific, most expensive, most perfected, most experienced, propaganda-machine yet designed by man.

nobody can think any more....they just react in programmed fashion to the appropriate stimuli.

pity the US citizen, for he is vapid.

btw, expect to see it in a country near you soon....the whole
world is rushing to replicate this machinery/culture as we speak....

don't need nuts of traditional religious persuasions either....the
matrix will just make up a new one for you. Eco will do, or
whatever works best.

Bearman if you like chaos or living by mob Rule well then the life style will be right up your alley and you are better armed than most. BBC News tonite focussed on what they called the "Rage in America" and wondered why? they of course brought up Shrub and the Religious right but i think it is deeper than that the American Soul is in trouble.!

Saw your post. Sounds like an accomplishment to me. My older sister, who owned a dairy farm in upstate NY for many years, got into working as an intermediary with lenders/farmers doing workout etc.. Glad to know you are aware of the family-farm predicament.
