In the 70s we had a real "oil shock", it brought the muscle car era to an abrupt end, as can be seen here: Muscle Car Timeline

i think we are not even close to an end of the SUV era, which i would compare in its gas guzzling maeer with the muscle car era.

btw, if someone has a good 1967 or 1968 Mercury Cougar please tell

Predators that hunt herd animals do so by utilizing the element of surprise whenever possible, sometimes by employing complex chase strategies (wolves come to mind) and by identifying the weakest member(s) of the group and pursuing them mercilessly.

GOOG doesn't have the risk/reward I am looking for.
One day sometime in the future he'll [Cramer] come blubbering and whimpering on air half naked and smeared with his own feces. It'll be the buy signal of the decade. --PhatBubble
One thing I think is certain. The more the world's central banks act to suppress the cost of long term capital, the more of it the market will demand, thereby keeping upward pressure on yields until the CBs have no choice but to relent. At that point we should see a massive final blowoff similar to that which occurred in 1980 and 1981. --Doctor Stool

So sorry, gurgle is on overhyped overpriced pos! Full disclousure I own one put . Just like any of the other 1990's mania crap, folks never learn, way too many to mention. Btw, who reads ads anyway? Most browsers lock them out, all the ads do is slow down one's computer. Search engine, sure does a great job, but what is that worth? ANyway, I have no clue as to where this stock will flame out, but this is what mania s are made of and this just reinforces, to me that this mkt is in deep doo doo. I bought the put more for fun than anything else, it certainly will not result in any change to my account values. What I do know is that if I had a dollar for everytime tribal fusion slowed my computer to a crawl I would be a wealthy man.
""Pretty bubbleheads preen daily on our financial networks, playing the shill to Wall Street and Washington in order to lure unsuspecting Americans into buying insanely overvalued stocks. The great market exchanges, once prudent arenas of investment where the engine of capitalism traded value for value, have become sham casinos staggering under decades of massive Fed created debt and lurching into oblivion on the greater fool theory. Yet our high level bureaucrats, led by Alan Greenspan, exhort all Americans to consume still more of their seed corn and seek still more fools." N. Hultberg
