Meant to post this yesterday. . .

Runaway health care costs:
Premiums vs Wages (up 35.9% vs 12.4%)
Premium Increases (up $900 per year for Individuals; $2300 for family coverages)Pct of people spending more than 25% of annual income on healthcare (up from 11.6% in 2000 to 14.3% in 2004)

# of uninsured Americans, in millions, 72.5mm in 2000; 85.2 in 2004.
A hard PILL to swallow

The prices being quoted to employers this fall for 2005 contain double-digit increases - just like the three previous years.

That rapid rise means more uninsured, more self-employed people scouring for low-cost options, and more employers trying to reduce their own cost increases by making workers pay a larger share.

I would not underestimate the amount of damage that took
place last week.

Alot of big boys got their hands and feet broke.......I think they
are bleeding with Insurance and Pharma..........and their gonna
stay bleeding...................................If Banking decides to take
a shyt........well welcome to Holloween..............................

And it looks like they are running into techs as fast as they're little paws will take them with their tails between their legs.

Schaeffer in his evening letter has a Commentary..."What to expect when expecting earnings" should be available on his site..in a nutshell he says the high expectations coupled with a 16 year low in the VXO are a prescription for disaster. ;) Marty Weiss in his Monday Letter says Spitzers foray into the Insurance Industry has opened Pandora's box Marty has several times testified before the Congress and Senate on the abuses in the Industry and he says nothing was done. Now he says it will be and the first to be fried will be the ratings agencies who have long been aware of the abuses and sat mute, he goes on to say kick-backs are the norm all along the food chain-Marty doesn't pull any punches ever! ;)

There are ready made free databases for the S&P indexes on a weekly basis, that you can download right into excel, or as a text file. You don't need any special routines.

OK, I found one.

Chine- try this.

So, the Dow was up today?

Well, I have a plan!!

Under my plan, all bulls will get their clocks cleaned because 990N is now officially out of commission!!!

Under no circumstances will the market close higher the next two weeks!!

Sherlock - check your email.

thanks for your thoughts, Butters,

I agree, these will not be the best of holidays and family gatherings.

The interesting part is that nobody even asks what my views are,
yet they assume they know. <sigh>

Nobody asks what our views are because more and more people are trying desperately to hold on to their own views in lieu of cracking up.

That's where this previously "leading edge" part of humanity is stuck.

Desperately holding on to our opinions and prejudices , deathly afraid that if we don't, everything will spin out of control.

Hey, it's gonna spin out of control anyway folks, might as well let all our crap go now.

Then we can listen to anybody's views, no matter how wild and absurd they would ordinarily seem to be.

Why doesn't someone ask how much money Theresa Heinz Kerry gives away to worthy causes every year, instead of regurgitating meaningless Repugnicant campaign propaganda.

The progressive income tax ( which is clearly unconstitutional) must be abolished! Otherwise the 50% of folks who do not pay taxes will continue to support the political hacks that promise something for nothing. I could go on, but enough of my political rants.

I don't see why we should let people in this country live in 3rd world conditions. So we have a mixed economy to make up for the failings of laissez-faire capitalism. Let's try to make it work, not tear down a system that has made life bearable for people at the bottom and pretty damn good for everyone else.

I saw the following post, how is cutting out corporate welfare going to do anything for people at the bottom of the ladder?
