The powers behind the Nigerian Rebels can fund their entire operation just by becoming oil traders.

Since their own words are responsible for major shifts in price direction, it makes perfect sense for them to time their trades in advance of their own pronouncements.

Any reason to believe it's not already happening?

Is this stuff easy, or what?

Let me try to refresh a memory or two - The G7 was going to request (require) the United States to "devalue" the dollar by at least 20% and China was going to be rquired (requested) float the RMB.

On Thursday the dollar collapsed and all was joy. Today, neither of the above has taken place, and all of the currencies that were on a "moon shot" Thursday have roundtripped to where they started.

Just wondering if anyone else remembers any of this or did I just dream it?

Fade the conventional wisdom - you will be correct more often than not.

Aside from TA, 2 oddball theories come to mind

1--------Housing values gonna take a hit and so investment ports gotta go up to offset that negative wealth effect

2-------Since so much investment activity is based off shore , maybe foreigners are liking the idea of a Kerry victory

The Nasdaqi tribesmen have evidently discovered the coca leaf... bad luck for us bearish missionaries tied to trees being treated to a high-frequency dose of death by oogabooga, gangsta-stylz.

...A declining spenglerian carnival of Colossaalism united with Inflation where the numbers one through 10 are forever banished as worthless arithmetical detritus from a bygone age... - Beardrech

Naturally we believe the govt numbers... and Boobus Americanus sleepwalks off the edge of the energy-crisis cliff clutching his shares of "Crisco", Yoohoo and GooGah munching on his Yum Yums and Ho Hos. Future historians will have a hell of a time figuring out what the hell Americanus neanderthalus was thinking and exactly what brought on his sudden demise... - Henny Penny

Well, good night everyone. I gotta go lube up for tomorrow's regular end-of-week Gold Slapdown and Stock Index Bear Punishment Rally Weekend Greenprint. ...Probably another Shock-and-Awe Gap-Up-Open and Wire-to-Wire Meltup Runaway Bull Charge Mo-Mo Spike to Fresh New All-Time Lifetime Highs, culminating in a 4:15 yelping scalded dog runoff with panic short-covering and legal not-held bad double fills due to fast market conditions, plus quote system freeze-ups and trading platform lock-outs along the way. *yawn* typical gov't Friday. - Shorty

Hats off to the Plutocrats...................

If you check the 1-day charts for euro markets such as London and DAX, there's a gap-up open, followed by a flatline.

I'm a skeptic -- this is AGAIG (As Good As It Gets) -- something bad gonna happen ...

Would like to see the metals hold around here. Lower leads to serious liquidation I'm afraid. Should be a good place to add.

with gold down big the stock mkt *should* be getting decimated. They were tlking stocks up big as a result of hyperinflation via devaluation. Can they really have it both ways? I dont think so.
""Pretty bubbleheads preen daily on our financial networks, playing the shill to Wall Street and Washington in order to lure unsuspecting Americans into buying insanely overvalued stocks. The great market exchanges, once prudent arenas of investment where the engine of capitalism traded value for value, have become sham casinos staggering under decades of massive Fed created debt and lurching into oblivion on the greater fool theory. Yet our high level bureaucrats, led by Alan Greenspan, exhort all Americans to consume still more of their seed corn and seek still more fools." N. Hultberg
