Anyone think the insane action lately as anything to do with Googles 3 billion IPO? Over 20 brokerage firms involved with huge coin at stake.

Inventory numbers were up ahead or higher than retail sales. Suggests to me that the economy has some slack in the system and that the future should not be all that robust unless the consumer really steps up and has a big month or two spending. Things are mediocre at best and with the fed rates increasing....the economy is scheduled to slow down. Oil is up again. We shall see how long the oil companiies will play along for the Bush election before they are forced to raise prices at the pump.

Robbie -- how does one pronounce Culloden? Which syllable is the accent on?

SLedd -- DJ Newswire has re-issued the same pump piece on the education suctor today, re-dating it for today. They're really trying to prop it up.

It's KullawwDen, emphasis on the K sound then the D. Does that make sense?

Totally. Thanks. I had read that Americans never pronounce it properly, but the article didn't say how to pronounce it !

Speaking of LOL and LOX -- both of you
Of course I'm caustic!

i'm really bracing for no electricity or internet.........i'm gonna go NUTS.

Those who developed on the Islands west of town with condos (former Ringling property) will be hardest hit by Charlie. Hope the Ringling Homestead (state park)
will be spared. Art is on high ground.

the build in inventories is deja vu from the depression, the shelves were full of goods but no one had the money to buy them. Crapvision had a retail anal cyst on who said purchasers were holding 3 items up and saying which one will I buy where before they would have bought all 3.

U.S. Warns of Possible Violence Over Venezuela Vote (Update1)
Aug. 12 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. said Venezuela faces possible violence as demonstrators take to the streets ahead of this weekend's referendum on removing President Hugo Chavez from office.

``There is always potential for violence at these demonstrations,'' the U.S. State Department said an email statement. ``Deaths and injuries have occurred in some previous demonstrations.''

The State Department also said anti-American rhetoric in the country is growing, and noted two churches associated with a U.S.- based denomination were attacked with grenades in May.

Both sides are expected to hold rallies later today as official campaigning closes. The opposition, a loose group of parties opposed to Chavez, hopes to draw more 1 million people in the capital this afternoon.

The Government wants to take away the right to own firearms--- the police will protect us? That's like believing the "War on Terror" will stop any of the Muslim attacks on America.
