From anecdotage.com:

While working in Paris in 1949, Brendan Behan - a housepainter by trade - was asked to paint a sign on the window of a cafe to attract English tourists. Behan kindly complied, composing a short poem:

Come in, you Anglo-Saxon swine
And drink of my Algerian wine!
'Twill turn your eyeballs black and blue,
And damn well good enough for you!

Having received payment for the job, Behan fled before the cafe's proprietor had time to have the rhyme translated.

[Perhaps unsurprisingly, Behan was later imprisoned (twice) for IRA-related political offenses.]

Behan, Brendan (1923-1964), Irish playwright [noted for his affiliation with the Irish Republican Army (from 1937), and for such works as The Quare Fellow (1956), The Hostage (a song and dance farce set in a brothel, 1958), Brendan Behanís Island: an Irish Sketch-Book (1962) and his autobiographical Borstal Boy (1958)]

Behan sounds like a real winner, a great (t)wit who could spin a rhyme. Too bad he didn't run for office :)

...A declining spenglerian carnival of Colossaalism united with Inflation where the numbers one through 10 are forever banished as worthless arithmetical detritus from a bygone age... - Beardrech

Naturally we believe the govt numbers... and Boobus Americanus sleepwalks off the edge of the energy-crisis cliff clutching his shares of "Crisco", Yoohoo and GooGah munching on his Yum Yums and Ho Hos. Future historians will have a hell of a time figuring out what the hell Americanus neanderthalus was thinking and exactly what brought on his sudden demise... - Henny Penny

Well, good night everyone. I gotta go lube up for tomorrow's regular end-of-week Gold Slapdown and Stock Index Bear Punishment Rally Weekend Greenprint. ...Probably another Shock-and-Awe Gap-Up-Open and Wire-to-Wire Meltup Runaway Bull Charge Mo-Mo Spike to Fresh New All-Time Lifetime Highs, culminating in a 4:15 yelping scalded dog runoff with panic short-covering and legal not-held bad double fills due to fast market conditions, plus quote system freeze-ups and trading platform lock-outs along the way. *yawn* typical gov't Friday. - Shorty

That's great Gladiator, how about John Cleese (MontyP of course) doing the Belgian to English translation at the tobacconist.

anything can happen in scam week, but I still watch the charts. Might catch them trying to pull a sneeky. For Bontchev, I think that would mean an unnatual act.....
or something like that..

HAL settles asbestos claims for $2.75B in cash and 59m shares of stock. Positive for the market, but I think the whole division cost less than $1B when they bought it.

Sox hit the bottom @ 300 and flatlined, while everything else started a little bounce. Cannot recall ever seeing anything like it. Then again MU hasn't seen a price like this for a very very long time.

Meta, 1355.55 is 100% Fibo retracement support now, after the bounce - but it wasn't any meaningful Fibo level before the bounce, so it couldn't have caused it. Maybe they just took her 5 points below the 50-dma to collect some stops.

Vesselin

I believe that was from the Hungarian-English dictionary you Anglo-Saxon swine. Would you like to come up to my room, bouncy, bouncy?
I have many opinions; but I strive not to act on them.
