Not sure if anyone had posted this article on NYTimes:

Maria Bartiromo, the stock-market reporter and anchorwoman for Crapvision, opened her hourlong television interview earlier this month with Sanford I. Weill, the chief executive of Citigroup, with an unusual disclosure. She told viewers that she owned 1,000 shares of Citigroup stock, then worth about $45,000....

Gold and silver coins An IRA can invest in one-, one-half-, one-quarter-, or one-tenth-ounce U.S. gold coins, or one-ounce silver coins minted by the Treasury Department. Some platinum coins and certain gold, silver, palladium, and platinum bullion are also eligible for an IRA.

Evening Stooltowners,

Well it seems us bears have had to endure over a month and half of sideways, range bound crap.

SEH has been sitting on his SPY 100.5 shorts for some time now (along with a couple of other big short positions), quite busy with work on the ranch.

Problem is that there is still too much liquidity and that liquidity has not dissipated yet.

In addition, the cycles just do not seem to portend an immediate big decline. (Great work Doc)

Staying patiently short, but not enjoying it much. A break above 1015 and I'm out until 1060-80.

Found an interesting post at an old site I used to visit. This guy sums up the Fed situation nicely IMHO.

Good luck to all in the face of some truly stellar money supply inflating.

Oh, dear, Mr TwoScrews, you are OBITER again.

HRFF meant SNOT that Switzerland wasn't known to our Founding Fathers, it certainly was, butt, rather, that it wasn't an examplar of republicanism to be emulated, nor izzit. Ironically, the source you invoke as a riposte, himself notes the vagueness of it's form of same, in addition to that of UDDER nations.

FURther, the notion being advanced earlier, here, to wit: that Switzerland, with it's armed citizenry, was or remains a model to be emulated almost exactly here is not only inapposite but ludicrously simplistic. Switzerland, evidently, is, in ersatz FURm, the NRA's wet dream. Curiously, Swiss seem able to refrain from our murderous proclivities insoFURASS™ privately owned/possessed FURarms are concerned. Oddly, they seem to be able to engage in prudent self-restraint, or, at least FUR more OF it, insoFURASS™ managing themselves fiscally is concerned.

You don't suppose there's any correlation, now do you?

Meanwhile, Americans, armed to the teeth SNOTwithstanding any shortcomings when ranged against the Swiss in the manner implied, continue to dispatch one another with their FURarms with unconstrained enthusiasm.

These NRA types would convert "a chicken in every pot" to a "shotgon in every bedroom". Somehow, in some vague, as yet to be defined way, they feel this would bring us much closer to domestic tranquility, and success in the 'pursuit of happiness' and so FURth.

I looked into the Church Trust thing and seriously considered it. The main problem is that you can't hold the physical yourself. It remains locked up in somebody else's vault (COMEX I believe). They are also a small company (as compared to some of the other investment houses), which may or may not be a good thing.

If you can't hold the physical yourself it seems pointless... those companies will be high on the hit list should the government decide to confiscate. Holding with Church Trust is just like holding in a bank's safe deposit box. You can be shut out at any time.

Anyone entertaining the conceit that the federal government won't confiscate Maple Leaf's if it sees fit to should, or, perhaps, more realistically, WHEN the time AGAIN arrives, should, in The BARE's humble????? lololol opinion, have his or her head examined.
