Asia turned around intraday and All Ords followed suit to close -0.2%. Not much changed in the sectors: Telecomms -2%, REITS -1.3% and at the other end, Energy +0.7%.

Asia off the lows: China flat, Honkers -0.5%, India -0.4% and Nikkers -0.2%.

Interesting problem for carriers:

Jan. 24:

Verizon Communication, the second-largest U.S. phone company, reported a fourth-quarter loss after booking a pension charge and having higher subsidy costs for rising iPhone sales.

Feb. 8:

Sprint Nextel third-largest U.S. mobile network operator by subscriber numbers, reported a substantially larger fourth-quarter net loss than the same quarter a year ago, mainly reflecting the higher costs of selling Apple's heavily subsidised iPhone 4S.

It gets worse, it takes 12-18 months to recover iPh cost for carriers,

but guest what iPh "renew" cycle is ... 12-18 months, so in the end they

hardly make any money for themselves, they just make money for Apple :ninja:
