Guest
I don't get it. The president gets bad information, acts on it, and thousands of people die. Dan Rather gets bad information, acts on it, and there are people calling for his dismissal. The President did not get "bad information." He got exactly the information he wanted. He is On Plan....Cheney's Oil Plan.

BeerMarket
Light Crude: CL Oct. $46.19? +0.59 Lest we forget, Oil Shock III (crude oil over $40) has been underway for about four months now. Â That's VERY different from 1990 (Iraq War I), when crude oil spiked to $40 in an environment of press hysteria, and promptly collapsed. Â This time, there's great complacency, while the price keeps drifting upward. Â Cumulative economic damage is occurring as these high prices persist. The economy's crack habit is getting worse. Its tongue has gray fur, and there are ugly tracks and pock marks on its veins ... re: complacency: Crapvision keeps saying oil up on lingering concerns about storms and Yukos. maybe the yukos part is valid, but if the storms were a large part of the current concern, the fact that Jeanne headed out to sea should be helping this morning. Recent advances in the processing speed of integrated circuit chips, coupled with the existence of a large market for financial derivative contracts, and other mechanisms for offloading financial risk, renders the price of fossil fuels irrelevant. The Republicans are surely loving the fact that the democrats will be the ones taking the heat for floating the concept of the draft...it's all part of the Cheney Oil Plan. The military exists to support the plan.

The military exists to support the plan. Both branches of the Depublicrat Party have to carry some of the water. Â Bush gets tagged with the Iraq quagmire; the Democrats get tagged with the draft. Â However, since the new draft is universal, it wins some "inclusiveness" brownie points and is therefore OK.
thesun
Methinks Iran lies in the backgound here, Kerry better win-Huh! Greetings Brian4. Â Sen. Kerry functions as a screen onto which people, who are fed up with the war-starting behavior of the current administration, project their hopes and wishes. Â However, in his published utterances, Sen. Kerry gives us no particular reason to assume that he's any more peaceful than Pres. Bush. Â On the contrary, he has said pretty openly that he's no peacenik. Â I question how much difference it makes, from the standpoint of US policy in the Middle East, who wins the election. the difference is that the bushman has absolute power. Â kerry will not control both houses. Â with absolute power the bushman is just taking away our freedoms, while telling us everything will be OK.
