It seems to be a bug in the board's software - the text of the message you're trying to quote is put in the part of the reply form that is supposed to contain the CC recepients. To fix the problem, either do not quote the message you're replying to, or cut-n-paste the quotation (during preview mode) into the proper field of the reply form. Guest Posted December 12, 2002 Report Share Posted December 12, 2002 My mistake - no, apparently clicking on Reply always results in quoting the message. Hold on! While trying to reproduce the problem with old messages in my message box, it just occurred to me that it might not be a technical bug but a design problem. When you post something to the forums by clicking on the "quote" link, you get two big fields on the message entering form. The first field is where you type your message and the second field contains the quoted text. When replying to a private message, you still get two big fields - but their meaning is different. The first field contains the people you want to CC the message to, while the second field contains the quoted message and you are supposed to type your reply there. It is possible that a user who is used to the design of the public forums automatically starts entering their reply in the first big field when replying to a private message - leading to the error Thor described. Perhaps it would help if you could change the design of the private message reply form and make the CC field much smaller.
