B4 The Bell Moonday August 30

Recommended Posts

:D Welcome to another week of trading, humor, insights, served with political barbs and what-not at B4 the Bell! :D B4 has as its central theme short-term trading, lead by the astute technician Brain4. But it is also about what ever members think affects that - in a cordial atmosphere of a 24/7 international family lounge.

The ownership society -

In recent speeches, Bush has argued that a key to reducing economic insecurity is to allow average families to own their health insurance and retirement plans, rather than relying on employers or government programs to provide them.

With workers more likely to change jobs or careers than those of earlier generations, "one way to bring stability and security into a person's life is to encourage ownership," Bush has said.

But Kerry argues that the ideas Bush promotes as increasing ownership are really intended to shift the risks of retirement and healthcare from government and employers toward individuals. Kerry and other critics maintain that individuals can achieve greater economic security by remaining within collective programs meant to spread risk over a large pool of participants, such as employer-provided healthcare, Social Security and Medicare.

"Bush is offering a return to the pre-social insurance world in which people bore risk mostly on their own," said Theodore R. Marmor, a professor of public policy at the Yale University's School of Management. "Kerry ? wants to preserve the spreading of risk in the name of stability."

This philosophical difference is clearest on healthcare and Social Security, the two issues in Bush's ownership agenda likely to provoke the sharpest clashes between the candidates in the weeks ahead.

Thanks you for thr pics.

It will be interesting what the re-elect the bushman forces will be doing to the different markets this week.

stock market

metal market

oil market

It would be nice if the market just say, " bye bye bushman "

At this time the markets have shifted to a bushman win, but only by a little.

Political Stool

I just wonder if all the protesters realise how quickly their 'personal files' are thickening down at 'Police State Headquarters'.

Phone tapping/email tapping/any other tapping must be one hell of a growth business these days.

Don't worry though folks, all of this is in the name of.............FREEDOM

OPEC announced (yet again) that in light of the fact that there is virtually NO oil presently flowing from Iraq's southern pipeline, they will increase production...again!

At this rate, it would seem that the solution to any oil shortfall is to bomb pipelines everyday, which in turn somehow leads to increased production levels.

Amazing.

Frances projected path takes on a slight northern component. Remember, each degree of north-latitude represents about 58-nautical miles or 67-statute miles, deminishing in more northerly latitudes.

huh?

Bush also acknowledged in the interview that the administration did not anticipate the nature of the resistance in Iraq, and he said that was his greatest mistake in office. "Had we had to do it over again," he said, "we would look at the consequences of catastrophic success, being so successful so fast that an enemy that should have surrendered or been done in escaped and lived to fight another day."

Baffoonage!

I can't say for certain, but it would appear that this is in fact the very first mistake that this man has admitted to since taking office.

Could there be a more collassal mistake?

"Catastrophic success" implies there IS A CATASTROPHY!

This will come back to bite him...big time.
