Because I would have done just that very thing a year ago. You can borrow from your 401K and pay yourself back with interest. I had employees do it all the time. If someone is going to do something like that they mine as well get 20 credit cards and max them out buying gold coins then file bankruptcy....or quit there job and roll it over to an IRA... Now is the time to be looking for and establishing short positions on strength. There's a giant gap down on its way, one from which there will be no recovery.
