Guest jrmfl
did we learn yesterday that the market hadn't been taking the Fed seriously, but is now repenting? yes we did in part, that and what appeared to be a HEAVY dose of short spankage. chiefywiefy
I'm going to be looking to pick up some additional shares in the miners today if they put them on sale. This week is shaping up as really bad threatre and we've seen it before and it has already been discounted. Distribution and sell the news. I'm sticking with the silver miners as they have consolidated a bit. There are too many gold miners that have run too far to take a position in right now(bgo, GSS)Hoping for another AM dip in CDE. Downside risk remains to the 2.50 area.

wndysrf
Bullhorn Alert: UBS upgrades its forecasts for semi industry growth for 2003 and 2004 : UBS is upgrading its forecasts for semiconductor industry growth for both 2003 and 2004. The firm is changing its estimate from 8% to 11.5% for 2003 and from 16.6% to 18.3% for 2004. Firm's numbers now indicate total industry revenues in 2004 of $186 bln. The changes to its forecasts stem primarily from our recent upgrades to both PC and mobile handsets this year and next. Firm continues to have an overweight stance on the global Semiconductor sector and remains overweight on foundry, microprocessors and front-end Semi-production equipment. Its preferred stocks list includes INTC, IFX and Samsung with TXN a recent addition.

Bearbones
From the Daily Reckoning: "The American consumer has nailed himself to a cross of debt, so that other people in other countries should have life...and have it more abundantly. We wrote that yesterday, but like it so much, we repeat it. The poor consumer...Greenspan, Bush, Bernanke and the lot have pressed down upon his brow a crown of prickly bills that he will wear for the rest of his life. His martyrdom will take the form of a lower standard of living...and a work life that may never end." http://www.dailyreckoning.com/
soup
In for a brief second. Please let me make one point, although I thought it was obvious, perhaps not. In no way , shape or form do I blame anyone for losses or gains, certainly not this board. In fact the more bullish this board becomes the more bearish I am, always a contrarian, right or wrong. I rant often about the statists, while they frustrate me to no end, unfortunatley they are the way of the world. All one can do is their due dilligance , step up to the plate and take a swing. At least we still have the freedom to make some of our decisions. One must always take personal responibility for ones actions. Always!
soup
Which, btw, is quite different from the shills on wall street. Prime example; the bullhorning of the semis and semi equip, they have said the same thing for 4 years and have proven DEAD WRONG.
