Guest
Torah, I too find pre-open futures irrelevant and the short-term swings inconsequential, especially the way I play the game and now that I am already fully positioned for the bigger confirmed trend - down. Me too. At this point I just add more to my position as the price drops. I keep a very reasonable space between these additions so the short-term movement is, as Pile says, inconsequential and am just riding the bigger trend into March/April. SkiddMarket
My real question is- if I'm looking at the long term picture and ignoring the "wiggles", if I'm trading let's say... OEX March puts, where do you put the stops to keep from being whipsawed out. Do you let them sell off after dropping 5,10,20% and buy them back the next day? Or do you grit your teeth and trust your judgement? Or is that not "Trading Safe"? I'd love some feedback here and hear how the pros do it. Thanks. The End
A couple of things first, Skidd. If your thinking LONG term, whats with March (i'm in march as well But, that is short term) When did you buy them? What is your strike? IMHO, we could bottom before or after March 21st. For one, before you answer the above questions, know that you should speak to someone off this site for advice (disclaimer)
SkiddMarket
Don't laugh. I've got a 415, a 420, a 425, a 440 and a 450. Bought between 3 and 8 trading days ago. I sold my 460 and 470 for a nice profit. Before you chew my head off, I'm way up and playing with house money-Simple Guy and Doc and everyone here have been very very good to me ) I just don't know where to put the stops. The bid ask spread is massive on the options (sometimes $3-400), and I hate having to buy back in. TE- where do YOU put the stops on your options? The End
Skidd, I have been advised by management, that i can not show attitude. The lower strikes, are they at a profit? If so, just in case, i would think about discarding them, withe possibility of repurchasing at a lower price (option, not oex). If you think we is going down though, You look good to me. You got 7 weeks. IMHO, You should be alright. But again talk with someone who knows what they are typing about. Me, I am a dumbass

The End
For my 1999 post, I give you one of madam end's favorites. Jackson Browne's Doctor my eyes. Wndysrf & Doc, This deticated to you. No hard feelings. DOCTOR MY EYES Jackson Browne Doctor, my eyes have seen the years And the slow parade of fears without crying Now I want to understand I have done all that I could To see the evil and the good without hiding You must help me if you can Doctor, my eyes Tell me what is wrong Was I unwise to leave them open for so long 'Cause I have wandered through this world And as each moment has unfurled I've been waiting to awaken from these dreams People go just where there will I never noticed them until I got this feeling That it's later than it seems Doctor, my eyes Tell me what you see I hear their cries Just say if it's too late for me Doctor, my eyes Cannot see the sky Is this the prize for having learned how not to cry Purdy, you worry too much.
