Before the Bell-Sycamore Networks, Ciena rise

CHICAGO, Dec 31 (Reuters) - Shares of Sycamore Networks

Inc. <SCMR.O> and Ciena Corp. <CIEN.O> rose before Wednesday's

opening bell after both companies were among a group that won

military contracts to build a global network with optical and

data networking gear.

On Tuesday, Sycamore and Ciena were among the six companies

awarded four contracts worth at least $400 million by the U.S.

government, according to a statement distributed by an arm of

the U.S. military.

Contracts were awarded to Ciena for the optical transport

business; Sprint Corp. <FON.N><PCS.N> and Sycamore for optical

digital crossconnects; Juniper Networks Inc. <JNPR.O> for

routers; and Qwest Communications International Inc. <Q.N> and

Cisco Systems Inc. <CSCO.O> for multi-services provisioning

platforms, the on-ramps to the optical networks, according to a

release from the Defense Information Systems Agency.

This is a freaking joke:

intraday.gif?s...w=15&a=2&v.gif

America is on sale.

Foreign investors are lapping up U.S. stocks. Thirst for 33x earnings shares is insatiable.

U.S. Riverboaters are just gaming the long side for the ride, for as long as the stupid foreigners keep buying.

In Fleck's Mania Chronicles, he documents some historic moves near the 2000 top. Nasdaq futures moving 7% - 8% in one day. SOX index moving in one week the same number of points during the entire year of 1995.

I suspect we'll see similar action whenever this market reaches its climax.

The US peso in waterfall mode is simply a lack of bids as the market extends toward a strong fib cluster at 84.5-85.4 area.

There have been virtually NO buy signals for weeks on this toilet paper currency, making it relatively simple for traders.

Look to the above zone for a bounce, and hopefully a concurrent drop in equity prices as the hedge gets unwound.

Holy Smokes! :o :o :o

Guten Morgan Fx. :)

keep an eye on the dollar as HR767 & S596...

may be law by the time congress returns on 1/2/04... that may provide

the bounce, the miners would be a ST SELL then. they may delay the

announcement of law til first week in february.

I will not post doolar quotes until doolar trades below 80

That means maybe never or next week

UNCLE

80.18 fails... and it's 70 in a hurry. had a bounce at 85.60s...

looking less likely and more like an accelerated decline on deck.

crooks whacking metals again... lame-o.

seems we should have a ute form hell today.

green up the broads for friday's wash.

The dollar implosion is breathtaking.

Any stoolies remember what happened to the dollar leading up to the

87 crash?

Silver has been trading like a hot potato all night.

I see they are trying to slam it down even as the dollar continues to weaken.

The silver paper pushers have had a little of their own pain inflicted

on longs, come full circle since November 10 with silver going from $5.00-$6.00.

I cant imagine the margin calls.

It will be very difficult for any push down to be sustained with more and more jumping on the silver train. Finally the supply and demand fundamentals are surfacing.

yep. watched the entire silde, it preceeded the broads by about 6 months.

this time it may be 4 or 5. dunno, but that correction will pale in comparison to

the current one.

it may just begin it's power down mode to 80 now.

doubt it, but anythings possible, we're in a bounce range.

the land of the setting sun has canbalized enuf of itself?!?!?!

hard to tell, as they seem willing to fall on the sword again and again.

getting long on a dip for closing jam.
