B4 The Bell Weak-end Den

Recommended Posts

Our Vice President tells a U.S. Senator on the floor of the senate to "Go F*ck Yourself", and then defends it as follows:

Cheney says his use of 4-letter word 'long overdue'

The vice president said those who heard the putdown agreed with him. "I think that a lot of my colleagues felt that what I had said badly needed to be said, that it was long overdue."

Just as well he didn't say something to the effect of"Pity the anthrax didn't getcha".

Likely meant that though!

Howard Stern gets kicked off the air and the owner of the stations, Clear Channel I believe, gets a huge fine for obcenities. Dicky slips it into (hmm that's a somehwat disturbing image) the language of what is purportedly one of our most distinguished and civilized bodies, which the Post prints in full, and it's "cute". This country is truly wingohockingmoyamensinged. Liberty and justice for all my ass. All apparently means "only all" of the government officials.

I like MHs suggestion, though it should be shortened to 2 paces and both should be armed with RPGs. In fact instead of an election how about a massive duel between all of the Dems and the Pukes. At least we might get rid of half of our problems. The other half can be interned in an Iraqui prison for being terrorists acting to overthrow our Constitution. That would save Laura having to dress the Shrub. He would either be dirt napping, wearing an orange jumpsuit or having a dog's cold nose sniffing his delicate bits while he plays king of the mountain in the buff.

Keeping your chips, other than what you can afford to lose, in the Matrix is extremely risky IMO. Even though Al Gore invented the internet, he is no longer in control of the keys. A terrorist like Ashcroft or Ridge could shut it down for security concerns - mostly their own of course.

Noland has a few things to say about the real estate bubble.

Noland @ Prubear

Personally, I think fundmentals are just as likely to burst this thing as interest rates are. Many years of stupid loans combined with historic ownership rates, severe affordability issues in many markets, and a weak employment picture will on their own take this puppy down. An IR increase will only hasten the process.

Also at Prubear is Peebles with a more entertaining writing style:

Random Walk, by Rob Peebles

The silly FASB assumes that when something of value is cast upon employees like Weed & Feed upon a spring lawn, it should be reflected in the income statement. Of course, that is a ridiculous notion considering that if a company can reduce expenses through the magic of a cookie jar reserves, then why exclude stock options from the bag tricks? What FASB doesn?t understand, and what the protesters were so desperately trying to explain, is that The Marvelous Tech Industry is a special, kind of business ? one so sophisticated that it must hire sophisticated employees who live in California where there are Sophisticated Real Estate Prices (see below). And not only that, consumers and business get really tired of technology products in a hurry, so tech products have a Shortened Product Life Cycle, and as a result of All That, tech companies don?t generate a lost of cash flow that can be used for actual pay, and that brings us back to Weed & Feed concept. Tech is so special, in fact, that  the New York Times quotes a Bear Stearns finding that Nasdaq 100 company earnings would have been 44% lower last year with options accounted for. Ergo, if earnings were accounted for honestly, tech workers would suffer.

Now when you throw in the fact that in the Ass & Pee 500 (Somebody please use this name for a Nascar race) and to a degreee the Nasquack 100 earnings are being artificially inflated by their financial components and yes it's quite likely that the composite Nasquack 100 earnings might actually be negative and the P/E of the Ass & Pee is probably in reality double what is reported.

Here's a piece I read on prubear last night, talking about internet(and especially chat rooms) being the preferred medium for AlQ and terrorist groups. So,dont count on this "free speech" for much longer--fascist dictatorship--mission almost accomplished.

Excellent point. Everyone, either bull or bear, had better have a Plan B. In a market meltdown situation, I fully expect the authorities to unleash a "mystery" attack on the internet that will effectively lock out traders.

Got an email this morning from the Stool's ad server folks which explains yesterday's slowdown:

June 25th, 2004

Dear Lee,

At 8am PDT today, Tribal Fusion's ad servers were attacked by a distributed denial of service attack that affected several popular online web properties and hosting services. As a result, we had intermittent problems serving ads to your webpages which, in some cases, held up the load time of your site.  We have since resolved the issue issue and reinstated our adserving capabilities.

Unfortunately, our mail servers were also attacked and we were unable to communicate this issue to you earlier. We a have backup system in place to ensure proactive communications in the future.

Thank you for your patience, we will be working actively to institute several levels of redudundancy to ensure this does not occur again. We apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused.

Regards,

The Tribal Fusion Site Representation Team

I'll add my apology to that to those of you who experienced the delays. And to the few of you who complained yesterday about Tribal Fusion, may I remind you that without them, this board would not be here. They do a great job for all of us. Kudos to TF!

We have a Federal Election in Canada on Monday and for some time it has looked like we will have a Minority Government with neither the incumbent Liberals or the Conservatives having enough seats in Parliament to form a majority. Now with 2 days to go comes the strangest twist of all-Ralph Nader has sent an open letter to the Canadian Press urging Canadians to support the New Democrats in order to block the Conservatives from taking power. Now aside from this being none of Naders business the New Democrats are a motley collection of extreme left wing psuedo-socialists, trade unions, legalize pot groups and Gay and lesbian organizations along with the usual collection of anti-free traders and lets build a wall around Canada and live in log cabin groups. They always win a handfull of seats and add little to the National Debate other than acting as a consience for the downtrodden. So sure there is a place for them but PUHLEEZE not as power brokers in a minority situation. Ralphie please go away and find a set of teeth that fit as well as a suit that does too.
