The only thing that matters is how many HedgeHogs are gaming the stock on the short side. Given the giant 6 month tight trading range, the move one way or the other will be explosive. That all depends if the HedgeHogs are short or long the stock. Too many gamers in this market. So I expect things to continue bounce wildly this way and that. Contrary to others' opinions about a 2002- style selloff, I doubt that will happen. The market will continue to jack up and sell down, destroying longs and shorts alike. There were 1.73 billion basic common shares outstanding at June 30, 2003. The average number of diluted common shares outstanding in the quarter was 1.76 billion compared with 1.73 billion shares in the same period of 2002. Why: 1) In real-time emotions cloud judgement. 2) Disbelief - it always starts out deceptively slowly, never how you expect it to. Patience.
