wndysrf
JerryM: You are crazy to short TER. Look what happened to AMAT, NVLS, AMKR This sector is a buy, not a sell. The only sector worth selling now are the OSX stocks, which got smoked today on heavy volume. I took some big hits. BJS, ESV, PPP, all got hammered pretty hard on heavy volume. Looking to get long on today's breakouts like JCOM. NTES looks ready to gap up and go. This thing is getting ready to accelerate, big time. Doc, the T-Bond sale was reported on Bloomberg. Sorry, don't have a link.....

soup
mark: why do you want to go long after these stocks have had such big up moves? Oh well, I guess I am dense, and to think of buying value at low prices is just a sign of my age. WIthdraw the question, your way, I am sure , is the way to make money. Sorry, don't have a link..... I hear you Mark. Have tight stops in. Semi equipment girls do look bullish, I was just not convinced by today's volume. Tomorrow would show if this is real. SMH did close above 31, Meta's "watchout" level... I've heard rumors that how these Asia Internet portals make $$ by posting pornos, escort ads, and sex jokes via IMs on people's cell phones...so we are talking about a potential market expansion by $bns... No wonder they are making new highs everyday, exponential growth to be expected. Look at how WBSN is rewarded for an upside announcem't and FILE's downside gap was filled today. Still a lot of crazy upside actions to be expected in this earning season, IMHO... DrStool
Mark- When the Treasury auctions paper it is a drain, not an add. It's only an add if the Fed adds to its holdings. In fact, while it's not evident yet, increasing supply of new Treasuries acts is a depressant.
ThorAss
Well, I see this place continues to be that most wondrous of things, a bullboard on a bear site. Good luck going long under these circumstances! And good luck to M2M and all who sail in her!

Slothrop
Bear case: 1. VIX up all day and at the close. Such a divergence fails to confirm the rally. 2. New high on Nasty, but no new high on SPX. Divergence fails to confirm. 3. DNA finally made it above a 300 p/e. I'll be looking to short more stocks on the first day I see a lower low on SPX. Oh, and look at those silver stocks at the close: PAAS, HL, SIL even! Only SSRI stayed where it was.
richdaytrader
YES, you should have gone LONG DOW INDEX around 9050 and be holding a 150 point profit. Any break below 9130 take profit and cover !!!

In fact, while it's not evident yet, increasing supply of new Treasuries acts is a depressant. So when the Fed sells Treasuries, there is more supply available --> the price of paper goes down and the yields rise, causing money on the margins to go toward Treasuries instead of equities? tpark
Once upon a time, there was a grasshopper, and there was an ant, and the summer was nice and warm, and while the ant gathered stores for the winter, the grasshopper danced and idled in the summer sun. Even when fall came, the grasshopper still thought things would work out well. When winter came, the grasshopper had no stores of food, so he asked the ant if he could have some of his. The ant said "No". The grasshopper then sent his jackbooted thugs to take what he could from the ant, but it turned out the ant had not been saving much, and what the ant had saved was all dried out and worthless, so after the grasshopper and his thugs had eaten the beaten and emaciated carcass of the ant, they too starved to death. The End.

Guest
Mark, Careful my friend. We had the 1581 tick last week. That was the second manic uptick. Today the Nasty got over the old highs on anemic volume. The composite has now retraced 61.8% off the lows to the highs of January 2002. The gold contract was down but if you check the volumes it was pathetic as well. I got filled on MDG @ $12. Add on weakness.
