DrStool
If the sales tax figures from CA and FL are any guide, the GDP numbers are going to be very weak. The Fed has done a massive, and unprecedented $18 billion 5 day forward 3 day repo for Monday. Are they preparing for the worst? If so, this would be just another case of bad news being bullish because it forces the pumps into operation.

I_Am_Madness
LOL "Microsoft profit rises on deferred Vista sales" http://biz.yahoo.com/rb/070426/microsoft_results.html?.v=1 So essentially what they are doing is counting sales for "next" quarter's orders. Can they do that?

LeeWhee
Everyday it's someone crushing earnings and jamming the futures into the moon. Today it's out good friend MSFT. 578949 Have a feeling running up MSFT AH is a s/t Pigmen? headfake. Up to 30 AH. No big whoop. Has "room" to 30-31+ without upsetting the womenfolks and horsies. Crooks are probably hoping folks take the bait. OTOH, note that our semi-friends KLIC-KLAC, BRCM and SNDK all getting pooped on. All of 'em down 4-5%. Perhaps that has something to do with the fact the sexy SOX is only 2-3% from what I would consider a potential inflection zone (518-520ish). Here's a sexy SOX chart that lays it out.

LeeWhee
BIDU knocks one out of the park , up $20 AH 578956 BIDU made $11M on $35M in revs in 1Q. Annualized $44M on $140M revs. Market crap: $4.3 billion. 41x sales, 115x yearnings. Sweet. I'll short it for a trade when it gets to 500 P/E. Apparently the big "funnymental" driver of these valuations is the theory that a billion Chinese are going to spend 24 hours a day on the Internets during the 2008 Olympics since the Chinese are going to field a very strong team and most Chinese won't be able to attend. Of course, that's 15 months away and it only lasts two weeks. Have a sneaking suspicion that the stocks running on the "Chinese Olympics Boom" theory won't be holding up until the games begin at 8:08 pm on 8/8/08.
