First batch o' detail - not sure what it means:

Alcoa adjusted Q2 loss 26c < 1 min ago4:17pm 7/8/09

Alcoa Q2 revenue $4.24 bln vs $7.25 bln 1 min ago4:16pm 7/8/09

Alcoa Q2 loss 47c vs EPS of 67c 1 min ago4:16pm 7/8/09

Alcoa shares halted, last trade at $9.10 12 min ago4:05pm 7/8/09

The reason I would have bought puts on anticipated guidance is because I think the global economy is in the utter toilet. While the freefall has stopped, activity is slow to resume.

S'all good .... less worse than aSSpected...

Reports Q2 (Jun) loss of $0.26 per share, excluding non-recurring items, $0.12 better than the First Call consensus of ($0.38); revenues fell 41.4% year/year but rose 2% sequentially to $4.24 bln vs the $3.93 bln consensus. Co says the economic downturn has affected most of Alcoa's end markets - automotive, commercial transportation, building and construction, and aerospace

Of course, I'm always wrong about everything... but anyway, is this a lot?

Revenue fell to $4.2 billion from $7.2 billion a year ago. Alcoa, which had already lost almost $1.7 billion over the previous two quarters....

I want them to say that the second half is shaping up to be a banana-shaped turd in the toilet.

Specie- Without knowing who you are, I can only guess that either your subscription expired because the credit card on file could not be charged or you are subscribed to a package that does not include the Fed Report. If you click the Support link at http://wallstreetexaminer.com there's a contact form there where you can send me the particulars. There's also a phone number to call. It has to be one of those two things. If you email me, I can look it up and let you know. Include your full name and use the email address you used when you subscribed or include that in the email.

Oil has sold off hard recently. About everything has except bonds and the dollar. However, oil is getting Dover Sole and some kind of tradable bounce is due. Trading this can be slippery - no pun intended. It is hard to imagine oil recovering and making new highs, but it is still a possibility as the chart below explains.

I have a nephew who works the Alcoa extrusion stuff in Lafayette, Indiana. No layoffs yet. And its a really old plant, too. Labor didn't shove it up the a** of management there. Pretty tech-savvy group of people to boot.

Still, the writings' on the wall.

He saves most of his paycheck. Good kid ...

Psyche Doc, I am with you. Long the September contract @ $61.20. Will only play this for a bounce till tomorrow maybe Friday.

It could still go a little lower this week. Next week UNG has to rollover nat gas futures and I suspect many will be front running this which will cause nat gas futures to rise which will have a positive effect on oil. Next week should be good for oil.
