Democrat John Kerry won the third presidential debate tonight over US President George W Bush, according to instant polls taken by US television networks.

Fifty-two per cent of those polled by CNN said Kerry won the debate in Tempe, Arizona, while 39 per cent said Bush won.

The poll had a five percentage-point margin of error.

A poll by ABC found 42 per cent thought Kerry had won, versus 41 per cent who gave the victory to Bush.

Fourteen per cent called it a tie in the poll, which had a 4.5 percentage point margin of error.

In CBS's poll of uncommitted voters, 39 per cent said Kerry won, 25 per cent Bush and 36 per cent called it a tie. The margin of error was seven percentage points.

Just watched Fahrenheit 9/11 for the first time.  Wish I hadn't.  Why these war criminals are still at large is beyond me, as is how any decent person could vote to reelect them.  I've lost a lot of faith in my fellow human.  Evil all around us.

F911 Haven't seen it yet- feel I am familiar w/ contents from reading... but prolly missing the emotional impact. Will see it when it shows on late-nite TV, or perhaps from the safety of another country... Don't need to be further energized.

My partner (business) will most likely vote for the evil-doers. Boggles my mind, sickens my heart, & horrifies the rest of the world. I explain it to myself (short version) by attributing it to mental compartmentalizing- this person is otherwise a caring, intelligent soul. But then, that's how I'm able to continue working with him.

I've lost a lot of faith in my fellow human.
That has so far been the most depressing effect of this gov'ts behavior for me also. Something else to emotionally wall off... But I'm still optimistic, refuse to become utterly cynical.... for this millenium- after the global population declines to half or quarter of the current value, people may live in balance w/ the environment (assuming it's not too radioactive) & find harmony with each other. Limits, cycles, dude... but they're looooong ones I suspect. Sad that I won't be around for it, if that's indeed what humans choose for ourselves.

Nikkei and Heng Seng down triple digits.

Oil over $54 on Nigerian Oil Strike.

Gold up.

Dollar Down

Will they tell the truth about US oil inventories? A shortfall in inventories will send oil over $55 in a heartbeat...and the markets down.

Their only hope at that point would be to announce another Strategic Petroleum Reserve release...which might set off warning alarms about a heating oil crisis.

I think Kerry won because he talked about the issues that matter to people.....

He talked about rising health care and insurance costs..

He talked about jobs...

He talked about education....

He talked about war (a little)....

And many other things...

I think he raised the concerns of many people. If people are unhappy, he is on their side....not that I heard a lot of solutions...LOL We shall see what the polls say, but I think most people have their minds made up right now. Lets see if the news people find something stupid one or each of them said..... Probably some exagerations on the part of Kerry, but we shall see.....

That's the problem with all these guys. That's all they do is talk. Let Kerry win which I highly doubt and watch how little things change. We'll still be in Iraq. Taxes will go up. The Dollar will go down. Stock Market tanks. Musical chairs. Bush is an absolute moron. The longer I watch Kerry the less I like him. Maybe we catch a break and if Kerry gets elected someone with some common sense catches his ear. I somehow doubt it.

Larry King says CNN poll showing Kerry 52% vs Bush 39%

I was pleased that Kerry actually addressed the need for campaign reform.

Here is an article on FACT CHECKS:

http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/10/13/...heck/index.html

Kerry cited the number of black males unemployed in NY City.

Then Bush says we can bring in aliens to take the jobs that Americans don't want.

Isn't there a disconnect here?

Minimum wage is $5.15/hr. That's $206/wk before deductions.

How can you raise a family on that? Beyond shelter and food, how do they get

transportation and clothe the kids for school?

Bush chose to emphasize the need for education, blah blah blah.

To me, this implies that Americans are poor or lost their jobs because of lack

of education. Thus the victims are the problem.

Sherlock the minimum wage thing is a total crock. The minimum wage could be raised to 10 bucks an hour. How's a guy gonna feed a wife and two kids on that?

Why am I ROTFL?  Because Shrub is assuring everyone that he is working with Canada to secure enough flu vaccine.  I do hope it's safe, since we know he has concerns with importing other drugs from Canada.  ;)

on a almost related note:

I just got off the phone with my 84 yr old mother, she said " I can't get a flu shot, can you believe that, they just want all of us old folks to get the flu and die so they can save the money on Social Security and Medicare"

That is from a women who does not have a conspiricy bone in her body and is still sharp as a tack.

her comment made me think/wonder. would they.... who knows?

Oh my God! Of course.

I was speaking with a friend in a position to know, regarding the grand strategy that THEY are pursuing and with respect to Social Security payments and how to afford the Baby Boom Generation....and I said:

"I can see how the systematic "culling" of those in oil producing countries is working, but in order to care four our aging seniors in the future, and in light of the collapse of most pension plans, aren't they going to have to cull half of the senior population too...how are they going to do that?"

She didn't answer and looked away.

The planet really is overpopulated and oil really is going to run out and the carrying capacity of planet Earth really is being stretched, and their really are greedy and powerful people who truly believe that THEY know what's best for the survival of their own self-interests...and from their perspective:

Some people just need killin'

The boom/bust cycle that topped in 2000 was truly a global phenomenon. In socialist Sweden, the remnants of the telecom boom are everywhere in the form of empty buildings and corporate villages once inhabited by the likes of Ericcson. Their economy, like others around the world, was "geared up" for a new economic miracle, and the taxes that it would generate would fund all of the new infrastructure and the programs which were initiated during this time of great prosperity (like California). Now they are struggling to keep the promises made to their citizens. You can drive any speed you want to, because there are barely any police on the roads.

The burden of eldercare is a global issue, and now in the United States, with 55 year olds joining the ranks of the unemployed as their jobs are offshored, the numbers of non-productive humans on planet earth continues to rise.

What to do with all of this dead wood?

Got Soylent Green?

Found dealing with Dell wasn't worth the trouble. Friend of mine got one from them last year and it arrived DOA. Tech support is in New Delhi. I went to BB and picked up a cheap no frills 2.2 with xp plenty of memory basic graphic and sound card for under $350. If you don't need all the bells and whistles there's no sense even trying to fix the damn things anymore. Like transistor radios now. Cheap as hell.
