The Runner (1999)

In this gritty tale set in Las Vegas, Ron Eldard is a gambling addict who takes a job with mobster John Goodman as a "runner," which finds him placing bets around town with sports bookies. Eldard falls for cocktail waitress Courteney Cox, but soon gambles away Goodman's money and, in order to pay him back and stay alive, must make the biggest bet of his life.

i saw this film yesterday. He lost his "bet of his life" and lost everything. If you gamble you will lose. Dont gamble! You will even loose your wonderfull wife (here: courtney cox ), if that film is not enough to stop gambling, then watch "casino" with deNiro, and pay attention to the part of the film when the guy is clobbered to death in the fields. If you gamble and think you are better than the boys than they will rip your eggs off. Trade with the boys, not against them.

Just thought it was time for such a post.

I totally agree as it reinforces everything both Doc and I have said about the subject here. Plan your trade, trade your plan and stick to your rules. Resist the temptation to "bet the farm" on anything (or everything, for that matter). Always keep something in reserve as insurance.

When in doubt, stay out - there will always eventually come a time when things clarify and the doubts disappear and you can then move with a businessman's conviction rather than a gambler's emotion. Remember that it is the art of patience that separates one from the other.

Binding Bovine Logic...

I have been trying to balance the outlooks of Doc and SG since they indicate they are essentially in IT agreement here. I hope they might comment on my blended paraphrase which has brought me much peace (at last  )

Bare...

Regarding your usage of TM (trademark symbol). I am not a lawyer, but it is my understanding that you can only TM something provided it is sold (as used in commerce) across several states. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

If I stand correct, exactly what items are you "selling" Bare with all these nifty TM slogans on them?

Point me to the web page? Or email me the catalog.

Of course, the above is assuming these are YOUR TMs.
