Guest
Back to the debate... Bush said "We have 100,000 Iraqies trained." Not so. In testimony before Congress just recently, the Senate was advised that only 8,000 are fully trained. This effort calls for people fully trained to fight, not for just policemen to patrol the streets. Neither one adressed the current plight of the Iraqi people. All those children killed tday bothers me a lot.
Butterfield 8
CNN put on a fact checker who listed mistakes from both sides. he did not mention the 100,000 trained Iraqis. Iraqi civilians killed outnumber US servicemen by a wide margin. many were children. and that does not account for the injured, maimed, those growing up with severe birth defects or dying of cancer from DU. what were they thinking. well we know what they were thinking. Pee Brain
You know PB it is obvious you have never, ever placed your butt on the line. Not meant as a knock but if you think G.I. Joe is a better Soldier than anyone else than you are a Propaganda believer. British SAS and Canadian force Commando 49 have kicked their butts for years, Now as to wearing the Blue Helmet which I have talked about a lot. you know what! people respect you cuz it means the U.N. is not here to kill them which is the message they get from America---right or wrong! my helmet wasnt blue, however, i served honorably in the armed forces (U.S. Army), but even if i hadnt, i am still entitled to an opinion, unless of course i need to ask around to see if its okey - i mean that was your point, right? as to GI Joe, i think the fricking french and germans should have been running the show in Kosovo - i think NATO is b.s. and i think we should bring our boys home period - i was stationed in Germany BTW. i said nothing about G.I. Joe or anything else implying US supremacy. i am against the globalist trends - that was the point - this one world, one currency kinda b.s. i dont think we should ask you, the canadians, or anyone else (most notably the fricking U.N.) what we should do to protect ourselves.... WE ARE A SOVEREIGN NATION, not a part of some nebulus amalgamation of nations that have changing demographics, politics and motivations... read my post again objectively - we disagree perhaps, but there is no reason to be rude. absent the gross error (call it what you will its totally FUBAR) of Iraq, i suspect my position would be better accepted. again, im not defending Iraq or aggression, but you can keep the "we are the world" for the May Day parade. threadbare
Actually B4 and PeeBrain, As far as warriors go, Himilayan Ghurkas kick butt--and they can do it at 20,000 feet, when our troops are gasping for air and crying for their yak cheese  Only watched an hour of the debate. Couldn't handle it. I preferred the orange candidate. Bush was like, "You gotta love me because I NEVER change my mind". Neither does Satan, Screwball. Lots of talk about viox and viagra. Brian, what is a Cox 2? Is that the chemical name of the viox, celebrax drugs? I hope so, because it would be too weirdly appropiate if it was the chemical name of levitra and viagra. The dollar's diving. We're losing a major tenant in our building in Seattle and our income is in American dollars. Cool. I can be poor again. No more luxe meals at Mickey D's. Pee Brain, you're wise to avoid revenue real estate like the plague right now. Twignberries, Puhleeeeeeeeeeeeze don't buy a house--not now. Say you won't? PeeBrain--Hit men are being hired! You see--there are opportunities for entrepreneurs! You watch, the multinationals will control that pretty soon--then they'll find a way to outsource it, or contract it out to temps. Hey, I think I've actually described Halliburton.

Butterfield 8
PB - Re the sovereign nation idea, I think the point is not that we are supposed to ask permission of the world. Just that behaving like Napoleon - or that other guy - will alienate our military and trading partners. We have made it through the last half century without blowing each other up by acting with restraint and respect.

Shebear
It was nice to see Bush and Co. on the defensive tonight. Kerry controlled his rambling and focused on the landings of his punches.. It worked. Bush was obviously uncomfortable and very very... smirking chimplike. (although I can't decide who he resembled more, Alfred E Newman or chimp) With the split screen on Cspan, Bush was idiotic while Kerry presidential.. I have to say, prior to this debate, I was unhappy with having to vote Kerry to get the idiot prince out. I'm more comfortable with my Kerry vote now.
