Jorma
The TBAC guidance must be aimed at raising a lot of cash fast for the Treasury, right? I mean cripes, the projected deficit this fiscal year is what? $700bn that's $175bn a quarter. and they are borrowing $512? Why. Do they want to spike the markets? Jorma
Well I got that, but why so much, so fast? It does not seemingly serve any political interest. It doesn't serve the Treasuries interest. Not the long sides interests and that's all there is anyway. I guess if they are really loading up the long end it could widen the curve back out. I know motive is the hardest thing to know but still. Let's remember 07 08 when the Fed shrank the balance sheet at a very very very bad time. Lee is the only one I have ever seen mention that. It was one of his keenest insights ever. Coming straight out of his liquidity analysis.
DrStool
TBAC is apolitical. They get what they want for their inventory and trading needs. I make a point of never, ever asking why. I really don't care. It's a good way to get lost in the trees. All we want to know is "what." Don't waste your time on intellectual, philosophical questions. We're not in the inner sanctums of power. We will never know what and it doesn't matter.

All we want to know is "what." From the point of view of a speculator, there is really no such thing as an investor in financial markets any more, the why is kryptonite. I get that. Now I am going to say something odd. Your fanatical dedication to not asking why is the reason your not a lot more widely known and respected. As you should be.
