A bit more bearish today with All Ords trading in a narrow range between resistance and support. The index currently -0.1%, has had several goes at breaking resistance and now looks like it might be heading south to test support. With a bit of luck it will break through.. As to be expected, not a lot of movement on individual stocks and we're still stuck with low volume.

Golds looking healthier than yesterday: Lihir +1.5%, Newcrest +0.9% and Newmont flat.

Looks like Nikkers might be closed today. Singers +0.1%.

Just a trading range day with All Ords closing up a massive 0.4 points. Volume better than yesterday but that's not saying a lot. Seems like the market might have run out of steam so I'm feeling bearishly optimistic, see how the charts look tonight.

Golds continued to hang in: Lihir +2.9, Newcrest +1.3%, Newmont still flat.

Asia seems to be suffering the same lack of momentum: Singers -0.1% and Honkers flat.

No reason to suppose that Europe will break the spell....

Once again, nothing to report from here today!

Market seems suspended at 330.If the can keep it here until opex, then the majority of index options will expire worthless-exactly the idea, methinks.

Little example of the irrationality(bentness!) of the market.ABN Amro bank has 9% of an Italian bank involved in Parmalat.Parmalat going into liquidation--ABN stock up today! Maybe it is logical--ie state bails out Parmalat---lots of fat commissions to be made sorting out the mess.

After all, the bonkers made 150 million off Assold.

Wonder if Parmalat is perhaps the tip of the iceberg--of the black hole--formerly known as the Bermuda triangle--previously known as off-shore bonking where all risk has been shifted to Uranus!

I wish everyone a very merry, safe and enjoyable Christmas!
