Ags Nightmare Posted December 18, 2009 Report Share Posted December 18, 2009 Next week is probably gonna be one of those day trading dad weeks where we'll flag pole then trade sideways for 6 hours while a handful of stocks trade on their own fantasy island...if their is any weakness all Squid would have to do is press one nostril and farmer blow on the keyboard and send this up 10 SPX points.... there will probably be a few red headed step children that get shanked like CECO but I have a feeling the rest of the year is gonna suck. Like someone said earlier..the market opens...finds a nice level and trades plus or minus 5 points for hours...at the appropriate times...Squid and JPM enter Thunderdome for a couple of rounds of HFT wrestling then in unison jack the markets to the pre programmed close... I see the sheet hitting the fan April or May of next year....pigmen who tipped Barton Biggs off about the devil bottom with outsized gains will probably try to string this out until they get to the 12 month cap gain treatment.... I had thought they might be able to string this out two or three years but we have become so pathetic and so debt laden with zero room for error, I can't see this going on long term. Gadgets made in China have become our economy,,, this can't last...each bubble will be shorter in duration... until then...expect the same ole sheet......definitely will be short scalps but the broader market is in the hands of too few...I think J6P left the game...maybe for good and out of necessity due to survival....everything is a gimmick...cash for clunkers...cash for Gaylord Caulker ( which I seriously thought was a joke until I saw it pumped this week ).... its really incredible how we are destroying ourselves from within,,,, And now for something completely different....First the Babylonian playground on a sand pit.....now this in China....this is mind blowing...think they are gonna have some problems ? No. Usually, when I enter an order to buy/sell options, there is a piggy back that shows up along with my order. Say I'm selling 10 contracts, when I hit enter, 80 contracts appear at that price. Does anyone know the mechanism explaining this? Is something previously hidden showing up or is a broker piggybacking? tia Algo trading programmed to follow-on if certain parameters are satisfied...nothing new, just that it used to be done by eyeballs, now computer driven which is why it happens instantaneously Zactly .. And as options are market-made markets, when a dealer sees interest at a price inside, but not crossing the spread, they will tend to tighten their price to match it. Ritholtz expects the market to continue to go higher in the first part of 2010, suggesting 1250-1300 as an upside target for the S&P 500. But Ritholtz, who correctly forecast the "mother of all bear market rallies" was upon us in early March -- and has remained bullish since, does not believe a new secular (as in long-term) bull market has begun. He still thinks we're in a cyclical (short-term) bull market within a secular bear market, which began in 2000. While his 2010 S&P target would equate to around Dow 13,000, "we could very easily be at 10,000 [again] in two-three-four years from now [but] the way we get it is a lot of volatility - a lot of up and down," Ritholtz says.
