capitall
Goldman downgraded oil. Some people think that's a buy signal. Not necessarily so. Sometimes they're a good fade, sometimes not. But who knows? A year or so ago they predicted gold would dive and it did. However, gold traders are more conspiracy minded & skeptical than most traders. They are also simple minded enough to believe that the road to riches is as simple as "Just fade Goldman." So anyone-- including GS-- could have predicted that when GS predicted gold would dive, that diehard gold traders would back up the truck & load up. They did, and they lost their shirts. Jetlag
No obscene targets in that downgrade note? You have to weigh in Cramer fading Goldman: http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000324896 for the first quarter of 2015 and reduced its projection for U.S. crude to $75 from $90. http://in.reuters.com/article/2014/10/27/markets-oil-idINKBN0IG05820141027 This is like when a stock gets so far away from their target price that they just have to readjust it or risk looking even more stupid when the stock drops another 10%. It is not in the same class as the bbl @ 200 USD calls. Cramer fading Goldman. Where to turn? If only success in the markets were as simple as "Always fade _______." Although some people do say it's that simple and the guy's name is Gartman. But I have never checked out the accuracy of that assertion.
